Hello Forumers!

So it's only taken me over a week to get on MP.com and talk about the Transatlantic performance in SF....as someone said earlier...I can die now.  Great venue, great music, and now I am in love with Neal.  Think he will leave his wife for me?  LOL

Haven't stopped listening to all their cd's since.

P.S. I've missed everyone!
Good luck MP.

As far as I can see Roine is using two guitars during the shows. One is a Fender, what brand is the other one?

Trying my hardest to scrape together enough money to fly over to the London or Manchester show...although having heard that the Irish airspace is closed AGAIN because of the volcanic ash, booking flights could be risky. Seems like everything is trying to stop me from getting to see this band :(

The show in Cologne (yesterday, 8th of may) was absolutly, f***ing brilliant!!! I liked the fact that they used a very small lightshow, in that way the lighting doesn't distract from the absolute brilliant musicianship these guys bring! To bad Neal's Mac had a breakdown, so he had to improv a solo on his organ and after that the band stop to solve the problem. I gues Neal plays to good for a computer!!

MP is a absolute hero to me! I watched him the entire night. Playing on that level for 3 hours every show (7 days in a row!!) and crowed surfing the audience with a status like his, is simply EPIC! I'll hope to enjoy his playing and showmanship for many many many more years!

All the guys had a lot of fun up there, with some cool improv pieces. It was a fantastic evening with Transatlantic. I'll be on board of the ship the next time they come to Europe!

Have a nice flight guys!

Just came back from the Stuttgart show, and it was truly amazing. One of the best shows, all had incredible energy and the sound was great too (even though there were some small difficulties during some spots). Awesome.

Fantastic concert, I remember also the Boba Fett theme during The Whirlwind like in the dvd.
By the way MP did crowd surfing during the last song, unfortunately me and my brother were back and we had to leave the concert 10 minutes after the end because of a train to catch. The perfomance was perfect.
It was very funny to see Daniel coming jamming with the others! He even sang alone one of the ending lines during Duel With The Devil.
I got a t-shirt and also the new Road Salt One from PoS, limited edition.

Last night's concert in Switzerland was absolutely amazing, so cool to watch these 5 guys (some would even say they're gods!) like 2 meters in front of you! Setlist was the same as usual this tour. Mike didn't crowd-surf though which I expected as the crowd was pretty lame here, especially at the beginning. Felt like a soundcheck at times which made me feel kinda embarassed. It's strange though as the atmosphere is usually very good at the Z7, the bands often say so themselves. I guess the reason is that there were like 16 different generations spread all over the place, most of which probably didn't really feel like headbanging and stuff. It was still a little disappointing as the turnout was excellent, the placed seemed to be nearly sold out. But the crowd seemed to get more into it after the break which was cool.

The band still looked like they were having a good time and they all put on one hell of an awesome show. The mix was stunning too, haven't heard such a good live-sound in years I think.

Go catch one of these shows if you can, only god knows ( ;) ) if you'll ever have another chance to do so!

Gonna try to upload some pics and vids (one of Mike trying to break the 115-decibel-barrier with the crowd which was hilarious!) in the next few days.

the generation time for humans is about 25 years * 16 generations = 400 years
400 years ago: 1610 ... Galileo lived at that time... did you see him at the show?

Yeah I saw him and Johann Sebastian Bach throwing the horn side by side – I'm guessing the reason why they weren't headbanging is that they were afraid they'd lose their 400 years old heads

But well, considering the fact that the age range at the concert went from an estimated 10 years to about 70 years (which I think is awesome!) made it feel like 16 generations.

Just like to give my impressions of  Transatlantic in Paris last night.
Overall impression - great(ish)! perhaps I had too much at the expectation level.
Prefered the 2nd set of older material - mainly because the sound was better & I moved place and therefore I no longer had a guy whistling in my right ear!
Mike - was just Mike (spitting water on the fans, crowd-surfing & wow doesnt he know how to play those drums & cymbals)
Peter - God he plays a mean bass ( & I like his voice when he gets the chance to sing) - moves more than a John Myung!
Roine - shame his guitar was often too low in the mix - but when it was heard, he certainly knows how to make it cry - sublime!
Neal - I just love this guy - saw him with Spock's Beard when they played 1st part of Dream Theater tour - what a showman, what passion ... and I just love his voice (which unfortunately was often mixed far too low) - almost makes you to want to believe ... (PS His faith even when included in the lyrics does not bother me at all)
Daniel - he seemed to be having a rocking great time ... (what happened to his hair?) - guess he manages to feel the heavy side of Transatlantic when playing - headbanging away!

After 5 hours standing (this includes the wait outside the venue in a rather long queue) - me & the wife had great difficulty walking back to the car as our heels and backs hurt so much!

I can not wait to have the DVD of this tour - Transatlantic live In Europe is already one of my favorite music DVDs!

Thanks for reading these fews words. Take care all

Hey, you can find 6 videos from the Swiss show including a complete version of We All Need Some Light with Roine doing lead vocals with pretty good sound-quality (unfortunately, the picture quality ain't that great because I set the wrong settings...) on my youtube-site:

http://www.youtube.com/user/somify58

There's also two pretty funny vids, one of the "Rock the house" part with a crowd not really rocking a house  and Mike trying to break 115 decibel in the venue, together with the crowd.

You should give the venue a ring/email in the morning to confirm, but it says on the website the following:

Transatlantic 1st Set: 7.30-9pm
Transatlantic 2nd Set: 9.15-10.45pm
Curfew: 11pm

Latest Twitter post from MP:

Transatlantic in Tilburg was amazing as expected....even after 3.5 hrs of music, they still refused to leave and we played an impromtu 2nd encore...now onto London where we will film a new live DVD

He isn't lying ;-)

I just got home after an awesome night and simply the best concert in a long while!!! Truly amazing, so much fun and energy coming from that stage. I hope we (=audience) could give some of that fun and energy back...
At the end, where they do all the strange things you've read about, Mike started of with telling how prog a bass-solo is. But what about a basspedal-solo????? And Mike delivered! Really funny. This solo continued in a short version 'Smoke on the Water'.
The tender and loving song Mike talked about the show was an impromptu Pantera act.

I'm looking forward to the DVD, hope some of the things shot in Tilburg will get on it. If you are able to capture half of it on the DVD (Blu-Ray?) it will be a must have for every musiclover out there.

This was a concert I will never forget!!!
Neal, Mike, Pete, Roine and Daniel thank you for such an unbelievable night. I hope it won't take another 9 years for you to come back.

It can't get any better than last night, the best gig i've ever seen and probably will see in my life....how much prog can a man take in 3,5 hours....? (LOL)
MP and the rest of Transatlantic and crew many many thanks, you have been giving me two great nights....( Milan and Tilburg).
MP enjoy your new "shoes".....if you love em as mich as I love your music it all will be fine.....

Hands down!!!!!!

Oh my God.... That's all I can say. The show last night was absolutely AWESOME!! And there was some great merch available as well! It was very interesting to stand in the front row right in front of Mike btw...! Anyway, I'm sad that it's over and I can't wait for the DVD. I'm sure it'll ROCK!

The show in Tilburg last night was un-freakin'-believable I'm sure it was a once in a lifetime experience, and of of the - if not the - best show I've ever seen.

The stuff they pull off, the amount of material they master, and the way they bring it, with their eyes closed so to speak: godlike.

And Neal rips on the drums by the way, it was great to see him rock out

Also I have to say I really prefer "smaller" venues like the 013 as opposed to the larger stadiums DT is selling out these days. You feel so much more connected to the band, and what's going on on stage, and I'm sure the band feels the same way.

Thank you Mike, Neal, Roine & Pete (and Daniel) for an unforgettable night, and I'm picking up the DVD fo' sho'

Transatlantic just rocked London HARD. Three and a half hours of pure progressive gold.

This is the fourth time I've seen Mike and without a doubt was his best performance. There was an obvious lighting error as Neil was singing the first verse of 'All The Above'. For about two lines, we were in total darkness. Also, it seemed to throw Neil off as he sort of hummed a few words as the lights returned.

The Whirlwind lived up to the name and flew by with outstanding precision and emotion. Neil seemed to be crying during the climax of 'Dancing With Eternal Glory/Whirlwind (reprise)'.

I don't know whether it was the awesome air-conditioning unit at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, but 'Bridge Across Forever' had me almost shivering. Neil and Roine were certainly doing it right.

However, 'Stranger In Your Soul' was most definitely the highlight of the night, along with the insanity. Mike once again entertaining us all by high-fiving the sound tech. Amazing... Eagerly awaiting the DVD.

Btw, Mike. Nice Ass

What an incredible gig. It has to be up there with one of the best live performances I've witnessed. The atmosphere inside the venue was electric. Neal Morse is such a talented musician, it's unbelievable.

Cannot wait until the dvd comes out.

Hell yeah, it was awesome. It got better and better as things went on. I mean, I thought they were rocking in The Whirlwind, but then All Of The Above kicked in after the interval and the energy just went up. Sadly I had to miss the ending because of trains, left most of the way through Duel With The Devil, but I did see my favorite part from it.

Compared to the Live In Europe performance it was stellar. This one they were jumping around, having so much fun. That was the greatest thing about it - the fun. You'd think you'd get bored going to a retro prog gig where they played only about 5 songs. You'd be wrong. Even Dan at the back was going crazy - if not the most!

What time did they come on at in London last night? I'm going off my ticket that says doors are half 7, meaning they should come on at about 8?

I was there yesterday too, me and my 2 other brazilian crazy friends!

We arrived at the venue at 7am! :-o

But it payed off! We got to see all of the guys in the band arriving at the place, took photos with Neal, got him to sign our stuff too, met the funkygibbons (nice pal!), were interviewed for the DVD, stayed on the front row and had the most amazing time!! :D

Thanks God that this band is back together... I hope it doesn't take another 10 years! :P

EDIT: Nicest guy in the WORLD!!

So any news on this TV shoot? Or if the vinyls will be available online?

Also, does anyone who was at the London show know if they were shooting with HD cameras? Still hoping for a Blu-ray.

Not sure if they were. The weren't over sized or anything, they had one on smooth wheels at the front.

Any professional photos from London?

I noticed all the song from the Whirlwind are lowered - except for the overture. Neil's voice is human :D Awesome just the same

Re:TRANSATLANTIC - WHIRLD TOUR 2010!!! - Monday, May 24, 2010 5:35 AM
So I'm back in the Toon after the trip to Manchester to see TA.

Where to begin.... quite simplyone of the best gigs I've ever been too. Unbelievable. The crowd were into it from the beginning, singing along and all that good stuff. It was hot as hell in there too so I'm very impressed that MP donned a jumpsuit for the end!! The Whirlwind really comes into its own live - certainly more groove-orientated and heavier! Roine got the opportunity to stretch out and give us some tasty solos which was good to hear. The little jokes were there as at most gigs (I'm Lovin it, Highway Star Jam) and the lenght of the set.... well no one can claim they didn't get there money's worth.

My fiancee and I thought it was interesting to see the ways that the band were on stage:

Portnoy - The Showman -  stick twirling and crowd interaction. Not to mention his bass pedal solo and bizzare song about being a genius/God!!

Trewavas - The Bouncer - Pete was a revelation! Having only really seen him in the making of DVDs I expected him to be reserved on stage but he was pogoing and jumping like a man with springs in his feet! Clearly loving the music and being on stage. Legend.

Gildenlow - The Mosher - nice to see that you can mosh to Prog!! Considering he was a "touring member" he could have just simply played his parts and gone home but I've never seen anyone not actually in a band get so into the music before!! It was genius. Loved his opportunity to come downstage and bang his head in SIYS (I think!). His energy was awesome. Plus he's a pretty tasty drummer too!!

Stolt - The Professor - a man lost in his music. Head down and off he went. While not as animated on stage as the others, he played a blinder and was without doubt the ubnsung hero of the show. Nailing his parts and his vocals and providing a backbone for the band.

Morse - The Dad at the Wedding - reminded me of your Dad at a wedding who's had a bit too much to drink and is dancing like a manic, you know the border between cool and embarrassment. And I mean no disrespect to him either!!! I felt that he clearly lives for the music and feels it with all his heart and soul. He choked up during Rose Coloured Glasses as well as the ending of SIYS. It gives me shivers just to think about seeing that kind of passion.

So that's Manchester and the Whirld Tour done. My final thought.....

Please don't leave it another 6 years please gentlemen we need you too much to leave it that long again.
Music is not an artform as much as it is a means of communication....

Even though I got stranded at Manchester Piccadilly till 8:11 the next morning, I had an amazing night and would like to thank Mike, Neal, Roine, Pete and Daniel(and all the road crew ) for a stupidly awesome night of prog genius.

I can't wait for the DVD now!

EDIT: I also got the last orange t-shirt! And it was in XL. Extra win!
