If you're going to the CalProg show, make sure and say "hi" to Mike from Final Gravity and the King Crimson tribute band The Great Deceivers.

If I were in virginia and the show was in PA, I WOULD go there no matter what. Just skipping a couple days of college woudn't make me fail any classes.

I mean, really, it's TRANSATLANTIC! It can't get much more awesome than that.

Even if they came to somewhere far like Uruguay or Argentina, I would get a visa and save some cash to go there. If they were to come to Brazil TOMORROW, I'd be there. It's just that US is far too expensive.
Suddently you stop 'cause your feet just won't walk, like there's someone awaiting.

And considering the PA show is on a SATURDAY, really, what excuse is there, other than financial considerations...

I can no longer make it to the L.A. (Downey) show. I have a second row ticket for sale. Seat B9. I will sell it for $74.50, which is exactly what I paid for it.

It's finally starting to become real isn't it?  When I first watched the Live in Europe DVD, almost 7 years ago now, I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd ever see them live. Let alone in montreal!

Daniel Gildenlow posted the following on Facebook:
--
One week to learn all 3.5 hours of music for the upcoming tours with Transatlantic. Lyrics and notes and programming the whole keyboard setup. This line of work has made me control my stress to the point where, for an outsider, it looks spooky. I take a deep sigh and go to bed, dreaming about many notes and scales and key changes. Good night my friends!

This is going to sound terrible to most of you, but I think the inclusion of DG on this tour is what has me the most excited. I've been dying to see him live in any capacity. Throw in MP and NM and you're got yourself a fantastic show.

Montreal in 3 weeks!

I don't know either. I'm a free man currently, since I wrote my last exam on Monday and will start writing my Diploma thesis at the end of May.
Unfortunately this two shows are definitely on the bottom of my list.
Maybe I will be in Cologne. A friend of mine lives there. He's coming home for Easter and we'll meet up Sunday evening. We'll talk about it then I think.
Plus I PMed with Lennart a lot and it's very likely that he will be there, too.
The other possibility would be Berlin. One of my flatmates will move there at the end of this month.
Good for me ...

I am hopeful to hear Spinning, as I'm sure others are.  This song is truly phenomenal.  This song I believe will be received very well.  A whole feast of goodness going on with this one.

Yes, and then some.  A uniquie song in its own right, and you can pull out some serious nuggets, just by subjective interpretation:

Yes- Awake - beginning of track - (church organ)
Yes - America (momentum) - 0:23
Alan Parsons Project - Don't Answer Me (hook) - 1:49
Steview Wonder - Redemption Song - (hook style) - 4:11
Jefferson Starship - Runaway / Be My Lady (guitar style) - 8:09

Large-scale hook and country flavor, if this were cut in 1/2, in a different time and age it could be a hit song.

Hey guys, I know I have been away for a while but the new TA album has really hit me like a freight train. Possibly their best work yet and dare I say much better than DT's latest offering. I have tickets to the Montreal show and will be traveling up from Burlington, VT by Greyhound.

Does anyone know what time the show is likely to finish? The Greyhound station is right next to the venue but the bus leaves at 11:05pm and I don't want to miss the end of the show if possible.

Also, I'll be arriving at around 5:45pm, would anyone like to get a quick drink before the show around that area?

You might be cutting it a little too close there if you stay the whole show in my opinion.   I'm expecting it to be close to the 3 hour mark.

Hi, I managed the DVD & designed the packaging, so I can confirm it's legit. There is only one DVD in the package, containing 2 shows. I hope you enjoy.

I also produced a new Transatlantic DVD "The Official Bootleg DVD", which will be on sale at the upcoming shows. It contains never before seen home-movie footage from the BAF tour, 2 hours of live & zany backstage stuff. Be sure to get it!

I guess I don't have a choice... will have to leave the venue at 10:50 or so to make sure I don't miss the Greyhound back. I guess missing 10 minutes out of 3 hours is not that bad. MP, could you play a crappy TA song at the end? Oh wait. There isn't one.

Again, not to burst your bubble but 10 minutes is cutting it close to walk all the way from the metropolis to the bus station.   Just my opinion from having lived in montreal for 7 years.   Anyway you'll be able to judge for yourself when you get there.

I have no idea what the price will be (not up to me), but it's meant to be an inexpensive fan-club type item - so the price should be reasonable.  Similar to the Yellow Matter Custard DVD, and Mike's other DVDs of that sort (Amazing Journey, Rush tribute...).

I'm hoping for a live DVD of some sort so I can still enjoy the show - I can't make any of the actual shows due to time and cost :-(

ditto to the max.  AND location for me.  the closest venue for me is 18 hours away.

i know people in asia and south america and such have it worse than me, but its all the more frustrating i think that they'll be doing an american tour and the closest place from dallas to go is chicago.

happened on the PN08 and PN09 tours, too (only it was Atlanta that was closest).

but at least texas gets three IM/DT tours.

I'll see you in London, Mike. DVD please! And if it doesn't hurt, a BLU-RAY release would be nice

Read the thread, people - a new DVD (from the upcoming London show) has long been announced.

It would indeed be very nice if they filmed it in HD for a Blu-ray release. Are you reading this, Mike?

As there is no show anywhere near me (Australia) a Blu-ray of one of the shows would be the next best thing....
Hopefully this happens.

I wonder who handles all the tour details? A temp tour manager or something. This is a decent size tour with plenty of travel arrangements, road crew, etc.

This is a must.
Dream Theater and related projects need to start releasing blurays rather than just DVDs.

Collin Leijenaar, the drummer for Neal's European tour band, is the tour manager for TA on this tour. He's also a member here, btw.

Have fun Mike, I wish I was able to hit the Philly show.  And if my work schedule changes soon I may be able too.

Either way I'm hoping for a mega box set like LTE.  That would be awesome.

I'm going to the Chicago show and Ticketmaster lists the time as 7:00. Is that when doors open or when the show starts?

As far as NY, it's unpredictable.   85 one day, 55 another.  This time of year though you can typically expect probably around 60-70 degrees and very comfortable.  It's actually my favorite time of year as far as the weather goes.

Anyhow, I cannot wait until next Friday.  To think that only about 5 or 6 months ago I had never heard a Transatlantic song and now I can say this is one of my most anticipated shows in years.  Cannot Wait!!!!!!!

Portnoy

but after almost 10 years, it's FINALLY HERE!!!
Transatlantic tour rehearsals began today....

So I guess the answer to the thread the other day regarding how long Transatlantic would have to rehearse for would be no more than 4 days.

Update from Roine:

Roine Stolt First day of rehearsal behind us -
Some serious levels of sound and bombasm - good fun and plenty of jokes and silly Beatles covers - a bit of chaos too.

Had great fun and was happy the realize that personally my hours spent at
home, preparing "Whirlwind", payed off- it was easier than I expected.

Just got to look ove ...r the vocal parts now too.

Almost wished I'd recorded yesterday's rehearsals as some of the solos I played came out - well, as good as they get maybe because I knew the song so well and felt inspired.

Rounded off with Mexican food and a cold Corona.

Off to continue In a few hours.

For those who aren't following these things, Daniel posted this hilarious status update on Facebook today:

Daniel Gildenlöw wants to beat the ending of "Is it Really Happening" to a pulp with a rather heavy stick!

What I really would like to hear in a setlist:

The Whirlwind
Duel With The Devil
We All Need Some Light/Bridge Across Forever
Mistery Train
My New World
Stranger In Your Soul
All of The Above

182 minutes of pure EPICNESS.

I've resolved to myself that once the tour starts I will try as hard as I can to not see the setlist.

This is going to be rough...

I for one hope they do an abridged version of The Whirlwind.  Maybe sprinkle out different parts of it throughout the set.   But hey I'll take whatever I can get.
