I'll definitely be seeing them at The Palace of Fine Arts. Never even knew they had a venue there, should be awesome.

Yeah it's a great place,I saw Bryan Adams play an acoustic set there a year ago.You turn in right before you go toward the Golden Gate Bridge and end up right in front of it from what I remember. See you and Eric there.

I am not from London, but have been in the Shepherd's Bush Empire for concerts. It's very easily reached by public transport. A 3 minute walk. The theater itself is a beautiful place, a great place for concerts, see http://www.o2shepherdsbushempire.co.uk/Info. Standing on the floor and seats on the balconies (two levels). I am not sure if you have to book these seats or if it's general admission so you can go there and sit.

Hope this helps you out. Looks like a cool venue, holds about 2000 people, all General Admission. DT has played a few shows there in the past as well as Porcupine Tree in 2007.

I have no idea what to expect in terms of ticket prices, but I'd guess somewhere between 40 and 50 bucks?   It's really nice venue, DT played there on their "evening with" tours for TOT and 8V.  Fits about 2000 people I think and the floor has a nice big standing section.

You know, that's a really hard one to judge popularity wise.  When Marillion play mtl they draw about 2000 people and change, but Flower Kings never sell out venues there as far as I know. The BEard or Neal Morse have never played mtl so who knows.   DT is another story but this is a very different kind of gig. but just the name Portnoy on the bill means a certain number of people who wouldn'T be there otherwise.   Anyway long story short I don't expect this to sell out in one day but we shouldn't wait too long.

Looks like I'll be taking the train to NYC and Philly for those 2 shows.

It's not a case of "where's the love for the homeland" it's more a case of "where's the homeland's love for Transatlantic". It just wouldn't make sense for Transatlantic to do more shows in the US, the base for prog music is in Europe.

Our burden as Americans is that we like better music than most of our fellow citizens, and we have to go to the music when the music can't come to us.

Yeah, there's not enough americans that like this sort of music to support a more extensive tour for a band like Transatlantic.

And, also, half the band is from Europe. So I'm not sure "homeland" is the appropriate term in this situation. They truly are Transatlantic.

I am hoping I can make a trip down to NYC for this. This has to be done!!

With respect to the US, 2 of the TA members come from outside the 'homeland' - and it's true that places like Germany are much stronger markets for progressive music than the USA is. The band would probably like to do a more extensive US tour, but have obviously have to be careful that they only play places which are likely to sell out. Going broke on a side project isn't really an option for any of them.

Did you forget "Australia", Mike? :(   ...   I'm sure there are heaps of fans down here!!

If anyone is planning on going to the April 24th show at the Theater of the Living Arts in Philadelphia and has not yet bought a ticket - I have one for sale! The day after I bought the ticket something came up and it turns out I won't be able to make it to the show. Such a bummer.   So I bought the ticket from Live Nation - it was $37.50 with a $12.50 "ticket fee". The show is General Admission, so if you are going to the concert with other people there's no need to worry about not getting to sit with your concert mate(s). If I don't find someone to sell this ticket to I will just have ate fifty bucks. I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me out and buy this ticket from me. Please send me a PM if you're interested. Thanks!

Bah, I'm still waiting for my exam dates to be announced before I buy the tickets.

If I don't have an exam on that day, I'll probably end up taking the train to Montreal, and then flying home to visit my family or something the next day. My fingers are crossed.

My boyfriend tells me that the blender theater used to be a movie theater, but they ripped out the seats and screen and put in a stage and a bar, standing room.

We'll be there if we can afford it.

Steph, I've been to quite a few shows at Blender, Yes it used to be a Movie Theater, but there is a Balcony seating behind the floor. I saw King's X and Todd Rundgren and Steve Winwood which had a open floor (Standing Room only) When I Saw Zappa Plays Zappa, there was floor seating arranged. So it all depends on how the show will be presented.

I will be at the show in NYC.  Just recently (past few weeks) started listening to Transatlantic (not sure what took me so long) and I love every bit of what I've heard so far.  Definitely would not want to miss this show!

Well, I finally got around to ordering a ticket for the Montreal show. Unfortunately all the good seats are sold out, so I'm way in the back. But I still don't know if I'll be busy that day or not, so I might not even get to go. Oh well. My fingers are still crossed.

I am excited to announce that once again (as he did for our European Tour in 2001), DANIEL GILDENLOW of PAIN OF SALVATION will be joining TRANSATLANTIC as an additional touring member for our WHIRLD TOUR 2010!!
