Damnit! DT is essentially releasing a single via God Of War III. Which means, I have to buy a PS3, and God Of War 3. Most expensive single I will ever buy. (360 bucks)

I'm sure you can buy the song seperately, i know they released the soundtrack for God of War 1 and 2 seperately.

It's also looking like 2011 will be the next go for ProgNation, if I'm understanding correctly.

I had a feeling they'd record a separate song for an EP or something, but I had no idea it'd be for a videogame. Very badass. Transatlantic probably wouldn't come to Florida, but I wish it would. :( No DT tour kinda sucks, but I'd be happy if that means some sexy side projects from all the members. :)

The tour being scrapped has to be the result of the poor economy right now. It's a shame, but understandable.

Derango As everyone else in the US probably is, I'm a bit dissapointed in the lack of a second US leg. Well, actually, I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of ANY U.S. leg. There's some really good news there, but this means my streak is over, unless I get lucky and they do a one off somewhere. I've seen them at least once after every album since I&W, and this time I was kind of holding out for the Recovery Suite, which is easily my most anticipated performance ever, and he didn't even mention it. Such a bummer. The Transatlantic plans, however, are killer!

Wow. Interesting news to say the least. First time in forever (or ever?!) that they don't do a second US leg. Also first time in forever that they don't do an Asian/Japanese leg. Japan supposedly being one of the biggest markets for DT that's kinda surprising really. On the other hand this whole thing shows that DT's biggest market is without a doubt Europe and that Europe is a much bigger market than the US be it Evening with or PN format. Sucks for the US really. I'm glad though that I went to two shows here in Europe. I'm also going to try to catch Transatlantic over here. Thanks for the update Mike! Looking forward to another great DT/TA/Prog year. :)

Bummer about the US tour. Im sure there decisions had alot to do with financial issues, being they make way more money overseas. Guess we here in the US have to wait till the next album to see them again. BTW, any one know if there will be any NAMM apperances from the boys?? I know most of them were there last year and its always great to meet them and chat.

Awesome post Mike, thnx for the details. DT deserves a rest. BC&SL was awesome, the tour was awesome and the band deserves the rest. You said Transatlantic will do Europe this time? Awesome! But...I'm got a feeling that you will only do "big towns in big European countries" (eg. Berlin, Paris, London, Rome, etc.). Since I'm in Croatia, it would be really nice to see Transatlantic in Croatia (highly unlikely I know) or Slovenia, Hungary or Austria. Again, I don't know what are your plans with the tour, but it would be great for it to be a "big" tour that covers the whole continent because AFAIK, fanbase is huge in Europe. Oh, btw, drag Mikael A. and Steven W. and do that rumored project. That would ROCK!!!! \m/

After seeing them 11 times I'm kinda' glad to see them skip the second US leg. Going to be a very busy time for me coming up and it takes the stress away of, "am I gonna have money or the time to go". I would hate it if DT were in town and I was unable to go.

szabiakanich On the other hand this whole thing shows that DT's biggest market is without a doubt Europe and that Europe is a much bigger market than the US be it Evening with or PN format. That's no surprise, really. Prog acts, in general, do much more touring in Europe than in the US. Of course, many of them are FROM Europe, but Neal Morse and Spock's Beard are good examples of US acts that seem to do the majority of their shows in Europe. Europe is just much more responsive to this style of music than the folks here in the US.

pullmyfinger Obviously, the economy, and the rather so-so attendance of the prog nation shows had a lot to do with this. BUT, it is what it is, and I guess it was bound to happen at some point. I don't know man, I think you're just too wild and crazy at DT shows, and they need a serious break from that And Opeth is on GoW too? Holy fuck!

Portnoy As you know, after Thanksgiving we will be heading down to New Zealand for the very first time ... hooray! Portnoy In an unexpected move, we will then enter the studio right after New Year's to write and record a brand new instrumental track for inclusion on the upcoming Gods Of War 3 soundtrack. This will mark the first time in the band's career we have written and recorded an exclusive track for an outside project. Roadrunner invited us to participate and we decided we were up for the challenge! Hooray!

Very disappointed in no Texas for spring, being a younger DT fan that has never got to see you guys. But no hard feelings, you guys deserve enormous amounts of respect and any break you want. It seems to me that the band will be touring for a good while, so I'm sure I will get my chance. Thanks for informing us. Oh and I can't wait for the instrumental!

The boys deserve a break and I hope they get to spend a ton of time with their loved ones. I really hope that's the reason for the downtime and not (A) lousy ticket sales or (B) dissention within the ranks. That would be devastating news. I also hope that JP and JR use the time to write some songs for their solo careers. I think Suspended Animation was a wonderful album. Thanks for the update, Mike.

Thanks for the news Mike, although I have to say I was kind of hoping for another DT U.S. tour in Spring which is now not happening. Oh well… Here’s to hoping Transatlantic will play a show in a town near me, that will be interesting to check out for sure! And thank YOU for a GREAT 2009!

Can't say I'm so suprised. The U.S. has DT's weakest fan showing compared to Europe or SA and we get the most extravagant tours twice per album. Although why did DT stop with Japan/Asia? They had like 10,000 people come to their shows there!
