Will Transatlantic tour? - Tuesday, October 20, 2009 4:26 PM
I wouldn't expect a traditional mulit-city tour, but maybe a selection of cities...LA, Chicago, NY/Toronto....on this side of the Atlantic anyway...

Well they did for their first two right??  I wouldn't be overly surprised, but I would definitely go if they hit Toronto *wink, wink*

According to a Spanish interview to Neal Morse they are considering it

read the interview here: http://www.rafabasa.com/index2.php?url=/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=8022

Sorry it is in spanish I would love to translate it to you but I have to work, so, sorry!

Well, I will translate that for you but not the whole interview:

"- Tell us about the plans of TA Will the band be stable? Do you have the idea to go any further or are you looking day by day without looking too much the future?

I don't know, but I think we are moving step by step, so I'm not sure about what would happen next. What it is true is that we have talked about the possibility of a tour, but we have not taken any desicion right now about it. About a new album, we are going to follow the activity of the band 100%...I can't guaranted."

Note: since English is not my mother language excuse me for any mistake while translating, I'm sure someone will come with a better translation

I would definitely go if they came to Toronto. Hell, I'd even considering driving down to NY.

It would be interesting to see the setlist though. They'd have to be playing some pretty long-ass shows to be able to fit more than like, 2 songs considering the length of their new album.

Edit: Also, a live DVD. Shot in HD and released on Bluray. kthx.

After the DT World Tour ends somewhere next year Mike will take a well deserved break for 2 days and start a new one with Transaltlantic.

I hope they come to one of the 3 prog fests they do each year in Pa.  I'd be there for sure, if it's any of the usual 3 (NEARfest, 3RP & ROSfest)

Goldmine? let's not go crazy here.   This isn't The Police reuniting.   At best they will barely break even or lose a little money if they do gigs.  Just like Neal Morse, Spock's Beard, FK, Marillion, any prog band you can think of.    I know Mike is involved and that does change things a little but they won't be doing Dream Theater numbers by a long shot.

Well, Mike said at the end of the "making of" DVD that they would like to plan a tour in 2010.

My guess is that they would build a limited tour (at least in the US) around a NEARfest headlining gig, but that is just pure specualtion on my part.

I would travel ANYWHERE in the United States to see them play. Fortunately, I live in the NYC area, so chances are that any tour, even if limited, would likely include a stop nearby somewhere.

Let's hope so. My guess is they'll do a 10 show or so North American tour around Nearfest, then head off to Europe for a month or so. Can't miss this one!

According the the bonus DVD........they are planning on it!

I'd imagine it will be late next summer into early fall.... after DT does their spring headlining dates.

I've been to NM, SB and TFK gigs and the audience at the TA
European tour was significantly bigger than at any of those.

I'd love to have the opportunity to see this band.  I still need to hear the new album, but I also adore their older stuff, and I've heard very good things about the new album.

I'm assuming if they do tour, they'll probably pull a Porcupine Tree and just play the entire new album front to back.  What is it with massive album-long songs this year?

In a word: YES
We absolutely will....

It's just a matter of WHEN and WHERE....

The WHEN will be determined by when my DT schedule loosens up....

The WHERE will be determined by touring finances and offers. (It's likely it would be in limited markets, so if we cant come to you, try to come to us!)

It's all being discussed and looked at now, so stay tuned!!

Cool.

I was at a Gino Vanelli show show at The Bear's Den at the Seneca Niagara Casino last Sunday in Niagara Falls, NY, and this venue would be perfect for a band like Transatlantic.  Intimate venue with 468 seats.  Every seat is good, and very close to the stage, which adds a layer of excitement to the show.  Niagara Falls is midpoint between Toronto and Rochester, NY, and 15 miles from Buffalo.

I could theoritically see someone here in Rochester booking Transatlantic at this German house place.

I never thought I'd fly somewhere just to see a band play - never thought I'd do that, but I will for this!

I can has Transtlantic in Toronto? I know the prog scene in southern Ontario is big enough to justify playing here for at least 1 night! I'll travel anywhere relatively close to Toronto, though.

OK people, if anyone knows any promoters or event organizers now is the time inquire if they can make this happen.

I'm going to guess (again) that an intimate theater-type setting (in the US) is most likely to happen so keep that in mind.

European venues will likely be a degree or two larger.

Anywhere in Ontario would be fine with me. I might even consider registering for my passport right now, in case I have to travel down to the US to see them.

Man, I just hope nothing gets in the way. I had an exam the day DT played in Toronto this tour, which sucked. Hopefully nothing stops me from seeing TA.

Listening to the Whirlwind right now, it is kicking my ass! Amazing album, it is my first listen
and I already love it! Great stuff! It would be awesome if they'd come to the Netherlands and play
at De Boerderij for example, as that is a perfect place for a progband like TA.

If we're talking DVD then please not from BB Kings. Record it at the same place the LTE LA DVD came from. Much better suited to the medium in my opinion.

Of course, beggars can't be choosers.

Vic Theater in Chicago would be nice for a show. House of Blues would be okay too.

Boston needs more Transatlantic.

Cannot wait for Tour Dates to be announced for this.  I will certainly go to the closest show I can.

Still, Boston, big city, we have Berklee, it's quite likely we're a "limited market" which makes me happy.  :)

If not, road trip.
