goncalo_viola ^ That question is already being debated to death. I just had a vision... a co-headlining tour with Transatlantic / Dream Theater. (that would be a nightmare (to remember) to Mike ) that is what a prog-nation tour should be..............killer

A really do hope that Trewavas and Stolt got a little more space to be involved in the writingproces. The previous albums were abviously good but typical Morse albums with a touch from Portnoy. I hope for a real band effort this time.

Alex72 A really do hope that Trewavas and Stolt got a little more space to be involved in the writingproces. The previous albums were abviously good but typical Morse albums with a touch from Portnoy. I hope for a real band effort this time. The Whirlwind (song) was (as were many songs on the first albums) written by Neal before they went to the studio so a lot of it will probably sound like a Neal Morse song. The rest of the band did their best to rearrange it, as Neal's said. As I've said before I wouldn't be too worried about it. I think you can hear a lot of Roine on the first 2 albums. It's been a long time since I've watched "Building the Bridge" but I remember getting an impression that it definitely was a real band effort then. I sort of feel that the problem is that Neal liked the Transatlantic sound so much that he didn't try to go to another direction with his solo albums but ended up writing similar music. For example Sola Scriptura is very similar to BAF in many ways. On the other hand I also feel that no matter what kind of music Neal releases these days, some people will say that "It sounds like typical Neal Morse".

ministroraven ^^ I was hoping quite the contrary^^ I think most people would be on your side too. But to me, there's nothing worse than when a section from "The Healing Colours of Sound" or "Six Degrees..." comes on my ipod in shuffle. I absolutely cannot listen to it out of context and unless these are very disparate tracks with poor transitions, I might join them together myself. I've had no problem sitting through 3 hour long movies, I don't see how this should be any different. In fact I think it would be so much more brave of them to release it as one track, you know, nobody has done that. It doesn't really stand up as a 77 minute song if it's split up like that IMO. But you can't please everyone, and I think more people would be complaining if it was one big track. Oh well.

There's actually a huge mistake in this press release which I feel they should correct. It states the album has "...a second CD featuring Transatlantic’s eight other new songs recorded for The Whirlwind, along with four creative covers." Well, maybe it's not a mistake, per se, but it's definitely deceptive- anybody who hasn't read the tracklisting for the bonus CD would definitely take this to mean that there are 8 other new songs, PLUS 4 covers.. when in fact, it's a total of 8 newly recorded songs, OF WHICH 4 are covers...

A couple of weeks ago, Roine Stolt said this on the TFK yahoo mailing list: "it's the album where we ALL have more equal input on the final product - a true collaboration." Sounds like good news to me.

Bridge Across Forever is a fucking kick-ass album. And by the way, the lyrics aren't a bit religious, they are spiritual, though, and that's a good thing. Even if Morse was the greatest believer of all times, it ain't good to preach to everyone that the One God is right and that's it. There's something more... universal: spirituality, 'cause everyone needs that even if it is not from Christianity. Anyway, looking forward to buy this album the minute it comes out! And the next minute (77 minutes later) I'll be melting all the parts of The Whirlwind together and putting it on my iPod! Yeah and wtf with the deluxe edition? They'll never sell any non-deluxe album if there are 4 original tracks on the deluxe! TArules! ~postproggist~
