One of the best DT shows I've seen since 1995 ! Great location, beautiful weather as well
The band was on, James was f*cking amazing in fact all of them were !!
They seemed to have such fun on stage and enjoying the great crowd in Gelsenkirchen...James tried to pronounce Gelsenkirchen
The instrumental parts were awesome and so relaxed ! JP once sat down for a while before Mike's kit and played !
Funny thing was, behind the stage there was a canal, where a lot of people watched the show from the sides and during the songs Mike would stand up and wave to us and then turn around and greet the people behind him
I'm uploading some vids and post them here later.
THANK YOU Mike, James, John, Jordan and John for the awesome amazing show which will not be forgotten for a loooong time !!

The show was incredible. I've seen DT 11 times and this was their best sounding show! Even Myung was really audible. Too bad I missed out on ANTR during the soundcheck en too bad they didn't open with it, although ITPOE (pt I) was great as well!

The setlist, the venue, the weather, the people: all were great! No complaints here :)

they played a nightmare to remember (most parts w/o vocals) before the opening of the doors...so on their big soundcheck...it wa amazing...ever waiting fan was singing the "in peaceful sedation..." part :)


to bad 80% of the stuff i could hear was johns massivly loud guitar...standing in row 2 between mp and jp...
but i´m a guitarist so it was ok :)


looking forward to prog. nation!
a düsseldorf date for the 3rd of octobre has been anounced...in the phillipshalle! i´ll be there!

Wow, what a location/setting and what a set! It was great. Such a nice moment when DT was playing their stuff and there came a ship floating by behind them. And Mike Portnoy waving to it while playing, haha. Good stuff!

Too bad I missed most of Neal Morses set because of the traffic jam to the parkinglot. After an hour or so we finally parked our car.

Yes, this was one those days you won't easily forget... the place, the venue, the weather, the music,
the sound, the people I met, the crowd... everything was perfect.

true, this was a beautiful spot (in James own words), amazing weather, boats passing by.. Mike waved at the boats and also at the people on the other side of the water... that night was especially special because of the combination of all these things, add to that the amazing weather (not too hot, not too cold)

Gelsenkirchen Amphitheater is now my absolute favourite venue, I hope DT comes back here next summer or summer 2011

Got to agree here - everything about last night was amazing. Still deaf from standing infront of John Myung. As already said the Amphitheater is a beautiful setting - and being able to watch the meet and greet from above (and the general backstage comings and goings of the band and their antics) made it that little bit special. No. 18 for me and definately one of the best.
Now for a really stupid nerdy question........... since when/how long has Jose (Ho) been back behind Mike - must have missed something somewhere.
Thanks to the band for a great night - who knows but if you play there again I may even convince my wife into joining in :-)

Just watched some videos of the Gelsenkirchen gig... Looks amazing! Band sounded amazing, the venue was amazing, crowd was great.. Love it.

This was the best gig i have been too in my life.And I will be in Düsseldorf in october for sure.The traffic was horrible and i went way too late to see Neal Morse, so i only heard the last 3 Songs.But Dt was simply amazing the venue was beautiful hope they will be there in sometime again!

I also saw DT yesterday. I was completly blow away by Neal Morse. It was nice to see Mike playing along on We All Need Some Light, but Neal's highlight for me was Author Of Confusion, Oh My God! It was also very cool that his son sang along. He did a great job to.

What can I say about DT? Very good performance! It looked like they had a great time up there. I regred that I kept my place all the way at the front, because guitar and bass where very loud in that position and therefor the mix wasn't ballanced (I could only hear Jordan when he was playing the Zen Riffer). I also hoped for some more tunes from BC&SL, but he... you can't have everything. I liked the new versions of Hollow Years and Solitary Shell and the improv on Metropolis was killer!

I had my lesson, I saw them three times up close. The next time my position will be nearby the soundguy.

Btw, did I hear correctly that James said A Rite A Pastrage (or something like that)? WTF? His question on the name Gelsenkirchen was also hilarious.

Sorry ! I tried to upload them, but they are too large (427 mb and 247 mb) Together it's about 32 minutes.
Maybe someone has another idea ?
 
My husband and I were sitting down this time (although...I did stand up all the time !), but as others already stated, it was just f*ckin awesome !!

Then why respond? OF COURSE i'm not trying to take away your great memories! In fact, i hope you had a great time, and i myself also bought a ticket for the Ahoy Rotterdam show, so i hope i'll have a great time too. But that does not take away the fact that i'm dissapointed they're just playing their 'hit songs' so to speak.

I know what you're trying to say..(saw my smiley ?) it's ok, but well, Mike keeps track of everything they play and where, so I'm sure he knows what songs to play in Ahoy..
It's known they wouldn't play more new songs than AROP this first tour, that's normal after a new release and some songs are more played than others. I for one was so happy to hear Voices, awesome !
So what I'm saying is, lets just be grateful we are even able to see them live...not all fans can say this..

And grateful Mr. Cymbal is!
