So, my review of Frankfurt last night:
I have to admit, I was VERY skeptical if I would like the four band concept but it turned out to be great.
ALL the bands were outstanding and the sound was very, very good the whole night.
Unexpect:
They were great "in their own way"

I must say that after 20 minutes or so, it became very challenging for the ears to listen to them, as their music is a constant mindfuck

Still, a great and original band.
BigElf:
The BIG surprise of the night. I hadn't checked them out before, but I will go and purchase their albums immediately.
Opeth:
They were so much more that I had expected. I had listened to a song of theirs here and there, but never really got into listening to a whole album. They had the best souhd of the night and were beyond beautiful, with MA being a great entertainer, as well. I will definitely go and purchase their albums immeditely!
DT:
Their performance was great and I have NEVER heard James sing as divine as he did last night!!! This was just unbelievable. Funnily enough, DT had the "worst" sound of the night, as they were a bit too loud and the bas drum of the small kit (which was used most of the time) was much to high in the mix. Nevertheless, overall great sound and great performance.
JP was not as spot on as usual, but he seemed very, very tired. Looking into his face, you were expecting him to fall asleep immediately
Now to the negative part:
I don't know what it is, but just like on the fall leg of the SC tour in 2007, I got the WORST possible setlist which one could make out of the current list of songs that are in rotation. SO here it is:
1. A Nightmare to Remember
2. A Rite of Passage
3. Keyboard Spot
4. Sacrificed Sons
5. Erotomania
6. Voices
7. Forsaken
8. As I Am
-----------------
9. The Count of Tuscany
Some of the reason why this setlist was "bad" for me personally is that out of the songs that are great in there, I saw 3 of them already in the summer, namely Erotomania, Voices and A Rite of Passage.
Obviously, ANTO and TCOT were divine live, but SS, Forsaken and AIA are songs that I can definitely live without. I was sooo hoping for The Mirror/Lie, TDOE, Withter and whatnot, but there you go. You can't be lucky everytime

It was still a great night.
