Haha, yeah, probably they will play the classic PN setlist. I was just saying that if dt was looking for playing entirely Awake (or without Space Dye Vest) now it's the moment.

They're playing The Mirror/Lie, they're playing Erotomania/Voices). They played none of those songs last time in Paris, in fact they played nothing off of Awake. So they could do a little special something tonight. But somehow adding other Awake songs seems a bit unlikely. ( Though adding Scarred is always a good idea. )

Thx for the great gig in Düsseldorf! I drove 4 hours through the night to get home again and didn't sleep for 24 hours but it was worth it! Was the first one to be let in and had free choice where to stand - waiting outside the venue 6 hours early made my day :-D

That gig yesterday was the best Dream Theater show I attendet till now... The setlist was amazing as I had never seen any of the songs live before. I was amazed about how much atmosphere the 3 screens added. The videos where quite nice. Also the climax for me was The Dance of Eternity with the 4 split screen action and of course Mike kicking ass with his vocal part in A Nightmare to Remember. Can´t wait to see JP at his clinic in 2 weeks and seeing the guys rock Frankfurt. THANK YOU !

The Düsseldorf show was awesome. It's the seventh time I saw Dream Theater but it was by far the best show yet! I almost jizzed in my pants with the A Nightmare To Remember - The Mirror - Lie as intro. Seeing Jordan rocking around with his solo, damn, very good! Thank you for the best Dream Theater night!

I just got home from my wonderful Hamburg/Düsseldorf-weekend! First of all: lennart - you guys were already gone when I arrived :((( too sad! Plus I forgot to save your phone number! BUT I'll bring some more Fanta in two weeks :D In the last two days I premiered 3 songs (TCOT, Wither, POW) and had two songs I haven't heard in ages!! (ITNOG, Lie) I think that's pretty impressive for my 17th and 18th show. Thanks Mike for putting up the great work!!! But let me tell you a bit more: On Thursday I took off for my 1050 km drive to Hamburg, I stayed at a rest stop close to Hamburg. The next morning I met up with my friend Heribert and his girlfriend from Graz, Austria, who also came up to Hamburg to see the show and do some sightseeing. We checked out the city center and went to the Speicherstadt (very impressive, imo). Unfortunately it was unbelievably cold and windy, but my travel guide tells me you must not complain about the weather in Hamburg. At 2 pm we set off for JP's guitar clinic at the Bunker. There were about 150 or 200 people there, 99% guitar players. The atmosphere was great, John was very nice and polite, he took his time to explain and break down his crazy runs so that even a guitar-nono like me could sense the system behind the chaos!! :) He answered all kinds of questions, be it technical or more private ones, he was laid back and relaxed and eager to explain the mysteries behind his technique. If you have to opportunity go and check out a JP clinic!! Later we arrived at about 5:30 at the Sporthalle and there were hardly any people there. And even when the doors open we could take a leisurly walk and still grab a top spot at front center. Maybe it were the weather + the working day. Unexpect: lol, pretty cool people, awesome musicians and lots of double-base-ing. I like that kind of stuff, but my buddy Heribert looked pretty shocked! (he's a progger of ye olde days, ya know) The front woman/singer is really pretty and pulls off a good show. Shame, she's got so few vocal parts, her voice is great AND the woman can growl!!! Bigelf: I've been loving them ever since I checked them out first. Awesome vintage style with organ & mellotron combined with up-to-date heaviness. (The mellotron alarmingly resembeling my grandma's old linen bin) Opeth: wahhhhh, wahhhh, sooooo awesome! I think they have the coolest groves and rhythm sections of all bands I know - that combined with Mike Akerfeldt's unique way of announcing the next song ("are you happy?"..... (audience yells something like yeaaaah) ...."good for you") makes them just the coolest live act! DT: damn, what a stage setting! the lights, the video screens, the draperies... my fav: JR's wizard TV!!!! wow, I'm really impressed. Also the sound has improved dramatically since the 1st leg - JP's Mesa-monster-rack is not plugged in anymore and Mike's bass drum push badass! I was so looking forward to TCOT and it turns out to be the perfect live song! JP's middle section is a major goosebump driver, chorus and end have become the new sing-along hits. (will TSCO and PMU vanish from the set lists forever ?? ;) ) ... On the next day - Saturday - I planned to do some H&M shopping but what do I notice? It's "Tag der Deutschen Einheit" - a public holiday!!! Alright, so no shopping, instead I went to visit the Düsseldorf city center. What a beautiful town it is! Many pubs and restaurants, pretty houses and such! When I arrived at the Philipshalle - as I already mentioned - I couldn't find Lennart and his buddies of the Mirror, but there were lots of other people already lined up! It would certainly become tougher to grab a good spot this night! My good buddy Axel, webmaster of JP.de arrived a while later... that's the great thing about going to many DT-shows... you always meet someone really cool people!! The following 5 hours were just as awesome as the previous night. The sound was even better, I'd say, especially with the opening bands. Bigelf had some trouble with the mellotron breaking down right in the middle of their show! But they handled the situation well and finished their set brilliantly even though the mellotron's keys were leaning against the instrument... DT's setlist totally blew me away that night! I never heard Prophets of War live and when JLB announced "...next we're gonna do a song of our new album...." - I thought AROP - but it was "...Wither"!! I was really surprised! (also I didn't read the spoilers in this thread beforehand). Same about "Lie", I don't remember when it was the last time I heard that live (some time around 2000-ish in Nürnberg, I'd say). Alright, that's all I've got to say for now.... pics will follow.... I guess I'll put them into my "chickensandwich's roll call"-thread. Good night, I need some rest, my job needs me back tomorrow :D \m/ +++++ THANKS PROGRESSIVE NATION 2009

Paris, Zenith, October 4th 2009 A Nightmare to Remember The Mirror Lie A Rite of Passage Wither The Dance of Eternity In The Name of God The Count of Tuscany Nothing special but it rocked HARD ! Petrucci nailed all of his over the top tech solos ! Band in great shape, great sound, great JR solo, piano + his avatar little thingy. I love these guys, 90 minutes is too short ! Opeth sounded amazing, they are playing their best ever, Mikael never sang so good and everything sounded perfect, their Hex omega rendition was specatcular, the whole set was amazing. Great night !

I'm not much impressed by Akerfeldt's "rhetorical" skills, he's far from the greatest speaker -- he's a bit gawky on stage and his "unique" way of announcing songs is kinda silly. But he's a very cool dude for sure.

Windowpane The Lotus Eater Reverie/Harlequin Forest White Cluster Deliverance Hex Omega I only say this for the case that you didn't know that. But since people here said that they played quite long they changed the setlist for us Germans- maybe...
