Progressive metal veterans DREAM THEATER have announced BLACK CLOUDS & SILVER LININGS as the title of their tenth studio album.  The band commenced work on the album – their second for Roadrunner Records, following up 2007's Systematic Chaos — in October of last year.
 
Roadrunner will release the record on June 23. In addition to the standard version CD, the album will also be available on vinyl LP, as well as a 3-disc Special Edition CD that will include the full album, a CD of instrumental mixes of the album and a CD of six cover songs, the titles of which will be revealed at a later date.
 
Six weeks prior to the June 23 street date, Roadrunner will release one cover song per week through digital retailers.
 
Drummer Mike Portnoy and guitarist John Petrucci are once again at the helm as producers, while Paul Northfield mixed the record.
 
The band will embark on a world tour in support of the album beginning in Europe throughout June which will be followed by the second edition of the band’s PROGRESSIVE NATION tour featuring Zappa Plays Zappa, Pain Of Salvation and Beardfish throughout North America in July/August.
 
A video for the first single, "A Rite of Passage" will be shot in late March.

Im gonna guess Rite of Passage is the 8 minute song MP mentioned..that would be the only length close enough I would think that could be edited down into a video length..unless other songs on the album are shorter

And my guess for the AA song:

 A Nightmare to Remember.    Since his alcoholism was very rough for him, but he wants to remember the horrible times so he can pass on his experience to others

Six songs? Hell yeah!

Hopefully they aren't all like five minutes though... 

Judging by DT's past, I'm willing to bet that this album is not any shorter than 70 minutes.

The problem is, or rather one of the problems, for there are many, a sizable number of which are continually clogging up the civil, commercial, and criminal courts in all areas of the Galaxy, and especially, where possible, the more corrupt ones, this.

Album artwork similar to Awake doesn't mean the music will be similar.  I'm not saying it will or won't be stylistically old-school Dream Theater, and in fact I'd like it to be, but its the music, not the artwork that makes the album, and we haven't heard much of the music yet.

I haven't been this excited for a CD release in just about 2 years (get it?)

May these next 3.5 months not go by as slow as I think they will......

Dude - That was the coolest first response to a professional album announcement that I have ever read. I would have never thought of that.
I'm a sucker for disappointement, but I have to admit the album cover and tracklisting give me a fantasy of Awake. God I love that record.

I dunno...the track titles sound REALLY similar concept-wise....concept album maybe?
