I was re-watching the Marillion - Live at Lorely DVD and couldn't help notice the fact that when he was younger Fish had a clearly pronounced case of
gynecomastia. This is a real embarassing issue for many men (and one I have some personal experience with). It's definitely not something we like to talk about. Here's a screen cap to illustrate what I'm talking about:
Watching the concert it was somewhat distracting at times, to be honest. Personally, I wouldn't have gone with the plain white tee, it doesn't really do anyone with this condition any favors (which is why I favor black).
Anyway, I remember someone posted a pic from backstage at NEARFest 2008 with Fish shirtless and the problem was noticeably less pronounced (I did a search but couldn't find the pic - maybe the OP can repost it).
I'm wondering if the big man had surgery to correct the gynecomastia. Seeing that he was trying to break into acting (with some limited success), an industry where looks are very important, this would make sense. Of course, even without the acting, it's something that can cause a lot of undue stress, anxiety and shame.
In any case, I'm glad Fish got the problem taken care of and is able to be comfortable with himself.
(Try to keep the juvenile comments to a minimum.
