Tom Waits - Glitter and Doom Live I love this album. I just wish Tom's story segments had been left in sequence rather than relegated to a second disc. Bat for Lashes - Two Suns Another winner here; I don't like the previous album nearly as much. This one however is wonderful, and includes a small cameo from Scott Walker! Static-X - Machine Just plain old fun right here. Alice in Chains - Black Gives Way to Blue I didn't really like AiC before this album. Something about it clicks with me so much more than their previous stuff. (I do like Would? a lot) The Beatles - Abbey Road My first Beatles purchase. No comment required. Converge - Jane Doe Probably my favorite of theirs, although Axe To Fall is a contender for sure. Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun Continually amazes me. Opeth - Deliverance Yeah. The Red Chord - Fed Through the Teeth Machine Meh. Fear Factory - Digimortal I like Obsolete a lot more.

Scifi Saint Teeth of the Sea - Orphaned by the Ocean Hey Scifi... Someone, somewhere, somewhen recommended me this band and record. But I just don't remember... Is it a heavy version of Explosions In The Sky? Maybe I'm reaaally mixing something up... Anyway... How much points would you give it on a scale from 1 to 15 (15 - best)? Dennis

I wouldn't say they are a heavier version of Explosions In The Sky at all, but people tend to lump them into the post-rock genre. However, I think they are considered post-rock in the same way Godspeed You! Black Emperor are considered post-rock, because they can't be easily pigeonholed. Teeth of the Sea are kind of drone-like at times, but have songs that could be considered structured much like a post-rock band (soft introductions to violent crescendos). The band utilizes more than just the basic instruments (e.g. horns & keyboards) and they really do make some unique music. With that rambling out of the way, on a scale from (how about on a scale from 1-10? That works better for me) 1-10 I'd say strong, strong 7.5 and every time I hear their album I enjoy them more and more. So, take what you may from that. Great band. Oh, and that album is in my top 20 favorite albums of 2009 too.
