ORIGINAL: MusicTriviaNut

Track list like that, sounds like they're pushing another double album.

The album could only have 5 songs. Two 20+minute epics and then three more "normal" length songs. I think that would be interesting.

Double album? You mean entire second disc based solely on the last part of the AA suite?

Get up and deconstruct.

Yeahhh right!!!!

Its gonna' sound like Metallica wanting to be Entombed (again) with Meshuggah and Jon
Anderson on Lead Vocals and one electric lead triangle!

Hehe, Mr. Portnoy, you guys will have to do a Rap/Hip Hop album to ruin any expectations ;)
I'm wanting to see what your Battery will look like this time around!
(By the way, you stole the phrase "some are looking for the 2nd coming of Christ when we
release an album" from ME . . . I expect to be well paid for that I am).

Us "PrOgulus" folks can't wait! And Happy Thanksgiving to you guys too :)

Hmmm... With the description MP gave, maybe it's the third disc of the Greatest Hit compilation : The Epic Side

In all seriousness though, I hope there's an instrumental track on this.

So that's 5 songs,
4 on disk 1, one epic (+-24m) (COS), 1 metal/commecial (+-8m) (PMU), 1 very heavy (+-15m) (GP) and 1 epic prog (+-15m) (LTL) = 62 minutes
disk 2: Last episode AA saga: +- 50m (8v) (split up in 3 parts, one for every step)

I may be wrong be a few minutes perhaps ;)

Or are my expectations too heigh?

I don't think MP necessarily means there are just 5 songs like the ones he listed, but that would be pretty cool.

ORIGINAL: Portnoy
Imagine a DT album with A Change Of Seasons, Octavarium, Learning To Live, Pull Me Under and The Glass Prison....all on one album....

It seems there is a massive lack of overanalyzing Mike's message here, so here's what we know for sure so far:

Track 1:
OMG! One track will be considered too long by the record label.

Track 2:
OMG! The first third of another track will be an intro that totally rips off Pink Floyd!
Also, DT working with an orchestra again CONFIRMED!!!!111!eleven

Track 3:
OMG! Myung writing lyrics for DT again ALSO CONFIRMED!!!!!11!!!2!!

Track 4:
OMG! One of the songs will end very abruptly (that's all we know about it).
And the video for it will be a low-budget last-minute put together thing.

Track 5:
OMG! The last song will be part of a five-song suite and only seem coherent once the other four parts are added!

Why would that be even close to 50 minutes? So far every step took up just 4-5 minutes.

If Mike himself felt it okay to let us know, then it's probably EXTREMELY awesome and he had one of those moments where you go like "holy carp, we've outdone ourselves!".

I guess we can assume that we'll be hearing the more melodic side of DT and that the album will have a few epics. My guess is that the heavy parts will be I&W heavy. More prog and less in your face metal seems to be a safe bet.

Apologies for my constant posting, but I really just can't get enough of this thread.  I haven't been so excited for an album since... Well, ever, actually (except maybe when The Black Mages confirmed they were recording their third album, causing me to literally pump my fist in the air and leap round the room... A little embarrassing).

There was me thinking "right, for the new DT album I'm gonna wait and just buy it, then listen to the whole thing in one go.  No downloading, no listening to clips that the guys release, no NOTHING".  Well, looks like that's been thrown out the window

Wow, that's incredible news. To be honest I think that you did it really fast Mike. And when I say fast, I mean really fast because the setlist that you provided us as example for the tracks of the new album, leads us to a brand new double album.

Just a question that I'm hoping to be answered.

Is this the final album for your 12 part "painful" story??? Will we see the final 3 parts of it???
