Dimitar Nalbantov... Has anyone else heard this guy before? He's got insane technique...but most importantly his compositional style is downright breathtaking! Where did he come from? Check out his stuff here...

I'm diggin' the track "Abandoned Place" and "Shangri La." The thing is I'm not really into 'strictly guitar playing' like I use to be. Still really good music.

This guy has excellent compositional skills, which most "kids" nowadays lack. Not only does he show great technique, but his compositions really add something new to the mix. Parts of what he does reminds me of Vai and Petrucci. BTW, he programmed all the drums himself!

Well, since you asked.. I don't find anything interesting about the compositional aspects of either Abandoned Place of Shangrila. In fact I find them to be really boring and massively 'same-old' solo guitar style. And the recording really puts me off. Needs way more editing--and what's the deal with that buzzy acoustic guitar? Not for me.

Azium, do you like guitar instrumental compositions at all?

Someone just posted this about one of Dimitar's songs here. I'm posting it on this forum because this guy is friggin' awesome. "Tsunami is my new favorite song dude. Awesome melody. I especially love the part from 1:15 to 1:38. That kicks so much ass! Most noobs on forums who play guitar couldn't write a song this good even if it took them their entire lives. BTW, you did a great job with the drums. The "performance" is perfect for your songwriting. Here at this forum I want to try and offer constructive criticism to help, not to demean. Believe me, what you produced is better than 95% of the other stuff out there in your genre. Your style reminds me a lot of Steve Vai, almost as if you guys were twins separated at birth. The odd thing is, your songs are unique in their own right. I hear the influence in style, but it's the songwriting here that sets you apart from most. UNGH!" BTW, here's a new track he just posted - http://www.nalbantov.com/Sam/DimiNalbantov_Vanias_Garden2.mp3

he has some incredible moments, and his backing song-writing skills are incredible, but I noticed his lead style is very Steve Vai'ish, and I can only stomach so much of Steve Vai's stuff at once. As for ths guy, he does it more soulfully and less chaotically like Vai does.

Yeah, it's pretty good, but it's nothing I haven't heard before from a lot of Steve Vai, Joe Satch, etc... wannabes. It sounds harsh putting it that way, don't get me wrong I thought it sounded really good. But looking at the big picture, it's "meh".
Hopelessly drifting, bathing in beautiful agony...

i agree with 1hByTheLakeOfFire , there's nothing really interesting or "new" going on. Not bad, but also nothing that would appear in my music collection.
