Progator tst4eko Progator tst4eko Hey glad to see this thread resurrect from the dead! I'm still throwing the orb. Matter of fact I shot my highest sanctioned series in league two weeks ago 279-268-230=777. I've shot an 800 in practice, but doesn't count if it ain't in a sanctioned league. I've also been interested in participating in some regional pro events. I went down to Ft. Smith, AR a few weeks back to see some of the pros bowl. I didn't enter, just wanted to hang out and take it all in. Very cool experience. Think it's time to start saving some money for tournaments and get my feet wet on the pro level. The Orb? From Storm? I think my friend has the Green Orb. I'm getting my new ball on Thursday, not sure why since I'm doing pretty well with my 2D! Sorry to confuse. I was speaking an orb in general, not a certain kind of ball named The Orb. But my arsenal is all Storm. Virtual Gravity, Virtual Energy, Paradigm, Victory Road Pearl, T-Road Solid, T-Road Pearl, Hot Rod Pro Stock Pearl, Natural, and Black Ice Storm Spare. The Victory Road was the ball used for my 777 series. I won that ball from one of Storm's facebook contests. Nothing like shooting lights out with a free ball! Storm has all kinds of contests going on, which includes free equipment. Matter of fact, they've got a World Series of Bowling contest right now where you could win free equipment and their grand prize of a trip to their manufacturing plant in Utah! Storm also made a MatchMaker Open House stop at one of my local centers a few weeks ago where you get to try out all their latest and greatest equipment. Got to meet some Storm staff, including their technical director Steve Kloemken who did some video analysis coaching on my game. I also got to meet and rub elbows with pro bowlers Tyler Jansen and 13-time PBA titlelist and Hall of Famer Randy Pedersen! Good times, good times. Ah gotcha! So jealous, the only ball I've thrown from Storm is the Second Dimension, which has a lot of games. But I'm averaging 205 in my Friday night league and I never had that after 7 weeks, as a matter of fact my high average is only 193 which was last year. I can't wait to get my Virtual Gravity Nano Pearl. I think Pearl balls are good for me since I like something that goes a little further down the lane before hookin since I'm an inside player a la WRWjr. Awesome for trying the Storm stuff, I'm so jealous, we wouldn't have that in my bowling center, bowling is dying in my city, it sucks! getting my Nano P on Thursday!! I'm quite surprised with my average right now. I set a goal to book a 220 avg by the end of this season. Right now I'm at 221.48 nine weeks in. And this includes last week's dismal 557 series. So I can't complain right now. Your 2D will work for a long time if you keep it clean and maintained. If you recall my earlier post on this thread, I shot my first ever 300 game in 2006 with a old and battered Storm El Nino Wrath. A ball I bought brand new in 1999, was plugged and redrilled twice, had thousands of games on it, and after which looked like one of the ugliest bowling balls ever. The ball wasn't performing like it should so I simply started cleaning it on a regular basis and it was like a brand new ball. From that moment on I make sure to clean all my equipment after every league, tournament, and practice session. I also invested some money in a ball spinner, which isn't that expensive, and it's paid for itself many times over by doing the sanding, polishing, and cleaning yourself instead of paying money at the pro shot each time. If you're interested, go to http://www.vertexmold.com. You can also get sandpaper, Abralon and Scotch Brite pads very cheap at http://www.supergrit.com. Much cheaper than the packs you see in the pro shop and on bowling websites. I tried the VG Nano Pearl during the MatchMaker event and it's an awesome ball. I could really get deep inside with that ball and it always recovered. Wish I had some extra cash to buy both the solid and pearl. WRW jr is known for playing the outside part of the lane, straight up the boards, not hooking it from the inside through the oil. But he can hook the ball too, but his straight game is absolutely killer. I've been told all my bowling career that straighter is greater. I was also surprised Storm came to town. Bowling has been dying a slow death in Tulsa too. We've had two bowling centers - one in town and one in a nearby town - close over the past couple of years. Now there's only two centers in town when there used to be 4 or 5. It's a shame to see bowling decline like this. Even in youth leagues where I volunteer as a coach. Back when I bowled youth leagues, the entire center was packed. Now we're lucky to have 10 lanes filled with 4 bowlers each. Very sad. But those who are still in it have to stay with it and not get discouraged. Congrats on your new VG Nano Pearl purchase. And as they say at the bowling center, "Good luck and high scoring!"
