Moneyball 8/10
Reminded me a lot of the social network (no surprise there because of the same screenwriters). Actually I preferred this over TSN. A really well done movie with almost no actual baseball being played which is always a plus. I wonder if this will be the Oscar winner this year.
The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo (US) 8/10
Another well done film, better than its Swedish counterpart. Some scenes in this movie were done so well and were so intense that I had to gasp for air even though I knew what was going to happen. Didn't get that reaction with the Swedish version... Recommended for anyone who likes dark mysteries/detective stories/thrillers.
Tintin 6/10
Classic Spielberg adventure film, some great scenes and some that missed the mark with me. Didn't care for some of the action scenes which were boring as hell, mostly by the end of the movie.
The Dark Crystal 6/10
An oldie fantasy movie done with puppets. This movie sure has its flaws but the visuals are just great, no CGI here folks. Only the two main characters' puppets are weak, almost every other puppet in the movie works and looks like a masterpiece of craftsmanship. The plot is a by-the-numbers good vs. evil story, but done well enough to keep your interest through the movie. But I'd recommend this one for just the visuals alone.
Heavenly Creatures 9/10
Watched this Peter Jackson film that has been on my list for quite some time and was blown away. It tells the true story of two New Zealander teenage girls that become friends in the extreme and start plotting to be together forever and dealing with their parents' who are trying to break them up. The visuals in this movie are just great and the two leading actors are fantastic (other one being the young Kate Winslet).
