I've gone to see a few movies over Christmas. Sweeney Todd: This movie was incredible. Loved the singing, loved the way it looked (in classic Tim Burton style). Honestly. it's one of the most evil things I've ever seen and I love it. Juno: Hilarious. That's all I can say. P.S. I love You: So depressing. The movie was kinda weird, but also quite funny too. I went when there was a very loud-laughing old woman a few seats down from me though. It was pretty tragic... Great movie though all the same. All three of the movies were quite enjoyable to be honest, but if I were to favoritize them, they'd be in the order I listed them.

3:10 To Yuma 10/10 A rare score for a movie to hit me like this after a first view, but this movie is actually very amazing. This morn, I went on 5-mile walk (to and forth) to Best Buy just to get this movie because Christian Bale is one of top 3 actors and the reviews to this one. I was left in shock and the whole time, I was glued to the TV waiting what will happen next. Crowe and Bale are simply amazing, as was this movie, and the ending to me was also genius.

ORIGINAL: movieman1537 Shoot 'Em Up: 9/10 Great action scenes throughout. Yeah, it was insanely over the top, but it was all intentional. The perfect movie to just relax with a couple buddies and have a blast. Oh yeah, Monica Belluci is damn fine too!
I watched this film last night and for the action i give it a 9/10, but for everything else it gets 2/10----- just so crazy and not a ounce of reality----i guess now that i'm older i need a little more than action, but also a big reason for renting this was MONICA BELLUCI!!!

I really liked this film too, and although a lot of people want to knock it for being so wacky, I prefer watching a great action film where it doesn't pretend to be aything more or less than what it claims to be. Monica Bellucci is always great, though she isn't so young anymore (looking wonderful in her early 40's). No biggie, but if you want to see her younger & being sexy as hell, check out an Italian flick called Malena. Very solid movie, A+ music score from Ennio Morricone, and the nudity doesn't hurt things for me personally.

Eastern Promises - 7/10 Good flick, if a bit too heavy-handed at times and slow on the character development. Might've ranked a little higher were it not for Viggo Mortenson's balls and having characters sometimes alternate between sentences when they spoke Russian and English to each other. Brutal and bloody when it needed to be, though, while not over the top with it. Viggo's calm, collected acting worked perfectly for his role.
What pretension! Everlasting peace. Everything must cease.

'We Own The Night' After seeing 'The Departed', I fancied seeing Marky Mark kicking some ass again, so I flexed the pictures last night to see this film...been meaning to watch it for a while now. I was really impressed. Well written story, great acting - Phoenix and Wahlberg worked really well together - great on-screen chemistry. Not to mention Robert Duvall. If you haven't already seen it, you should. Good film. 7.5/10 The last film I wated prior to 'WOTN' was 'Hitman'. Not even worthy of the title 'Shitman'. What a bag of bollocks.

ORIGINAL: Ink Red Dragon *snip* Watch it now! Silence of the Lambs owns all. Most faithful adaptation of a novel I've ever seen. Hopkins won the Oscar for this, despite only being onscreen for 16 minutes (118 minute movie) Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay.

ONCE 10/10 Great movie about a street musician and a girl who meets who collaborate and write some amazing music. I actually cried at the end. The music is beautiful, the characters are very lovable. The strangest part is that none of the characters ever say their name. Watch this movie now.

American Gangster 7/10 Pretty good flic , You could question the validity of the "true story" aspect but it is a hollywood piece so, And possibly a mean Don Cheadle in Frank Lucas role or Denzel playing the not so nice guy would have worked better for me. All in all enjoyed it alot

Best movie of the year in my opinion (followed by Across The Universe which was truly great). Viggo's performance was brilliant and i agree with you about the violent/gory scenes: very rough but they totally fit the story. That fight sequence in the sauna was AWESOME!!! p.s.: i'd give it 8/10

ORIGINAL: SymphonyOfDreams 30 days at night: 4/10 Big fan of the comic book/graphic novel the movie was based on. Haven't seen the movie yet. I would definitely reccomend picking up the graphic novel...the art of Ben Templesmith is very creepy.

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem Yuck...2/10 Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. The trailer they threw together (yes, it had most of the integral, death scenes but by the time I saw the movie, I had forgotten who died) got me all hyped up for the movie but alas, it was crap.

hey..a HEADS UP for those folks who get Digital Cable through COMCAST and are a fan of ZOOEY DESCHANEL (Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy, Tin Man, Elf)..check your ON DEMAND listings: FLAKES http://imdb.com/title/tt0462295/ Aspiring rock musician Neal Downs (Stanford) manages a cereal bar. Stylish Miss Pussy Katz (Deschanel) is the creator of radically-themed art clothing. When the cereal bar, brings in an offbeat crew of locals, who debate the arcana of cereal history and ideal milk/flake ratios, an aspiring capitalist rips off their concept. Instead of waiting around til one of the theater *may* actually screen this, I am gonna watch it on my Cable's ON DEMAND soon.

Eagle vs. Shark - 6.5/10 This is what Napolean Dynamite could've been if it was made well... in New Zealand... had funny moments... wasn't weird for the sake of weird... focused on a girl... and wasn't otherwise terrible. Charming little story about two extremely awkward people finding love. Jemaine Clement of Flight of the Conchords was pitch-perfect for his role. Really loved the use of animation and music in this film as well. One of the quirkiest films I've seen in some time.

Juno. It was great. I loved all the characters (particularly Juno herself), and I loved how this could easily have been just another dumbass teen comedy/date movie. But then, that would just be unacceptable from Jason Reitman.

I saw Juno tonight and I was actually impressed. I went into it with the attitude of it being another movie similar to Knocked Up or Superbad, and it was quite the opposite. Of course, it was quirky at times, but it was also very very deep at times. On the whole, it was a good film though and I thoroughly enjoyed it 9.4/10

ORIGINAL: shawnson Juno, directed by Jason Reitman I wasn't sure if he could top Thank You for Smoking, but this is easily one of my favourite movies ever, even after one viewing. Ellen Page is really great in this flick. It's really good to see a lot of comedies coming out that are actually funny, brilliantly written, and getting great critical reception. I could really see this film getting some Oscar nominations, if not wins. If it plays nearby, go see it! +1 I thought this was a great one... Can't wait to see it again.

The Bucket List. Predictable ending... and a somewhat "cliché" story. But even the strongest cinephile will appreciate it, great work once again from Morgan Freeman. I loved that movie, very touching and it have its funny parts. 8/10

Last theater movie I saw was Juno which I can't say any more that hasn't been said... really an outstanding movie. Probably the best movie my girlfriend has ever dragged me to. Last movie I watched at home was Unfaithful, starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane. I thought it might be a good sex/adultery suspense thriller, but what I got was not a very good movie by any stretch. Hardly any character development, predictable story turns, and those turns were made even less effective by the fact that I just didn't care about a single character in the movie. Zero empathy for any of them. Stay away from this. 4/10

Terminator 2: Judgment Day - 9.5/10 Still to this day just about my favorite movie ever made. Saw it in the theater over 15 years ago, rented it the day the video came out, one of the first DVDs I ever bought. Still looks and sounds amazing. If not for the tiny bits of cheesy acting and the slightly over-wrought way in which the whole future/apocalypse is handled this would be the greatest movie ever. The special edition with the cut scenes included in the overall feature makes this movie even better. Re-watching all three to prep for the new Sarah Connor Chronicles show and rediscovering how amazing this film truly is. Cameron may be one of the most overrated directors ever, but this thing is a fucking masterpiece.

I Am Legend - 6.5/10 I must say i enjoyed watching this film (never read the book). It kinda reminded me of Shymalan's Signs (which i liked alot) especially the first hour of the movie. It's not a masterpiece and Will Smith is not the best actor around but it's a nice movie.

The Ten - 6/10 I wanted to love this when I first heard about it. I wanted to love this when I first popped it on. Unfortunately, it was more uneven than I assumed it would be. David Wain (Stella, the State, Wet Hot American Summer) directed this and co-wrote along with fellow State member Ken Marino. Tons of name actors throughout, most of them unfortunately wasted. The concept is 10 stories loosely related to each of the Ten Commandments with narration and stuff in between provided by the great Paul Rudd. Best segments were Marino as the doctor who goes to jail for "a goof", Oliver Platt as an Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonator, Winona Ryder falling in love with a ventriloquist's dummy, Joe Lo Truglio and Liev Schrieber as neighbors trying to one-up each other by buying Catscan machines and the final segment with AD Miles having groups of naked men over for parties when they should be in church. Fans of the State will love that 10/11 members appear (mostly in tiny roles) with an out and out reference to a great sketch in the Naked Party segment. It's like Wain trying to do early Woody Allen unsuccessfully. Worth watching if you like the people involved but not as good as it could've or should've been. Magnolia - 8.5/10 Saw it when it first came out and forgot all about how awesome this movie was. SOOOOOOO very good. Great work out of John C. Reilly, Philip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy, that kid on the quiz show, the wonderful Jason Robards in his final role and the best work Tom Cruise has ever done. Such a beautiful movie. Love the Aimee Mann-heavy soundtrack. Makes me want to see There Will Be Blood even more now.

So my wife and I are flipping through the channels last night and we come across a movie called Troll 2. I am pissed that no one has told me about this jem before now. It is truly the best worst movie of all time. There is no rival. If you have not seen it then do yourself a favor and be ready to laugh your ass off. The best part is that it was filmed about an hour from where I live in a little town in north Utah. I've been to the town before and I now feel like I have tread on holy ground. Greatest movie ever. http://www.bestworstmovie.com/

Idiocracy - Meh. Some good gags and a somewhat interesting premise... but I don't know it seemed to be lacking alot. I hate to poke holes in fiction, but the complete inplausiblity of it kind of detracted a lot of the fun for me.

Waking Life- 8.5/10. Although I've seen this before, it never gets old. The film is so alive, vibrant and pulsating with ideas. One can teach an entire philosophy class based off the ideas presented in this film. It's also one of the first films to use rotoscoping.
