Hi Mike.
First of all -I know you've probably read this thousands of times, I hope you don't mind another one- I'd like to thank you for this chance you give us to get "in touch" with you and ask you questions. I'd also like to express my deepest admiration for you and DT and thank you for the so many hours of wonderful music you have given us.

Right, my question: At the very end of "The Spirit Carries On", there's a moment ("I'll be alright, because I believe...") when you play a... Sorry, I'm not a drummer, I don't know how to say it. But I hear the same as in Led Zeppelin's "Since you've been loving me", at the very end as well. I hope you know what I'm talking about. Did you do it on purpose, as a little tribute to them, or it was just what came out from you on that moment?

Thanks a lot for your time.
Stefan.

P.S. Also, if you could tell me the beat on the intro of "Rock 'n Roll", I'd really appreciate it...

I see stars, adore their multitude...

Hi Stefan,
VERY keen observation there....you are absolutely correct!!!

I didn't think of it or realize it at the time when I recorded it, but I have in fact realized it since while playing it live...
That drum fill is indeed the same exact fill John Bonham (one of my heroes) does at the end of "Since I've Been Loving You".

DT covered that song at our "special" Xmas shows back in 1998 (keep an eye on the archives...hint, hint), so I guess that fill was still buried somewhere in my subconscious!

Good ears!
