Have you lowered you're seat height on purpose?

Hey Mike, I, as many others, have noticed that you're cymbals and seat height are much lower on your Siamese Monster than on your previous kits. Was this a conscious decision on your part? Can you see better, or hit (the many many) things more easily? Also, I feel that you're double bass playing sounds phenomenal on 6DOIT -- did lowering your seat height change your playing technique? Or was it just difficult to digest Taco Bell food sitting way high up? Thanks for the music and the time. Aloha. "(Without double bass) the Under a Glass Moon pattern could be a drum beat to an AC/DC song!" - MP "I’m just babbling, tell me to shut up." - JM "19/16? No problem! Syncopated polyrhythms? You got it! Snare roll? Fuck!" - MartyM

Hi Chris, Yes, I've been trying to sit lower now for years, but with my previous set-ups it was hard. So when designing the Siamese Monster, one of the first decisions I made was to switch to 22" kick drums (as opposed to the 24"s I've always used) and one of the main reasons for that was to get me 2" closer to the floor! Also...yes, I was conscious of setting up the cymbals (mainly the crashes) lower as well. I just have to get used to be a little more obstructed from the audience as a result of the lowered height as well as the busy design of the center cymbals of the Monster.... MP
