RE: Systematic Chaos - CD and DVD release info!

Hmm, this may just be a dumb question on my part (maybe already asked in this giant thread), but I'm wondering if the booklets for both editions and the art contained in both (besides the cover of course) will be the same. It makes sense that it would be I guess, though creating two entirely different booklets would make each version kind of collectible and probably drive fans crazy haha. But maybe I'm just being silly. The booklets will probably be the same, right?
Let's work without theorizing, it's the only way to make life bearable.

I think Constant Motion still can be an instrumental, maybe an animation like with octavarium. That will solve the problem with james labrie beeing on the video and not sing.He will be running and killing ants. Just a stupid thought never mind.

Another interestig tidbit to ponder. Could the SE version being released signal a re-release of previous DT studio albums in a 5.1 format? And, is there a market for such releases? Would you be willing to go back & purchase their back catalogue in 5.1 if available? I'm ALMOST positive I remember past studio reports from previous albums (Octo & Train for sure, if memory serves me correctly) where MP mentioned that 5.1 mixes for both albums WERE completed, but not released. Or, would those be ytsejam releases? I would DEFINITELY be willing to fork over the dough for past DT albums released in a 5.1 format, if one man's vote holds much merit here. BS

BS The 5.1 release of this album doesn't indicate in any way that the old ones would be done in 5.1. WB owns those recordings, and DT is on RR now.... unless RR bought those masters and rights, but I kinda doubt it.

HOLY FREAKIN' CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm absolutely at a loss for words....
There is no other band like Dream Theater. They are the quintessential musicians of our time, and the best band I've ever heard. The music industry wouldn't be the same without them.

Along with the lyrics to our chant (see sig) there was a sheet informing us that we would be entitled to nothing and that everything was being filmed. I don't think anyone minded either

ORIGINAL: ArcanumGuitar uhhh... plenty of reasons to bother. party pooper! Ya know what? I take that back. Because I realized the answer to my own question: a new label is why they should bother. Under the previous label, a video was a waste of time and money that could've been spent on something more productive. But now with a label that's actually behind them, maybe they'll push the video and the single to get played. Excuse me, I'm just talking to myself here.

I am HYPED as hell for a video, but, WHO is actually going to AIR it? VH1Classic? MTV2? Does eMpTyV still even play music videos during regular waking hours? Not trying to be an additional "party pooper", just realistic. I'm in agreement and hoping that RR does their PR job and gets 110% behind this CD/DVD release as well as the video. ...and BTW....I am BEYOND excited for this release AND Cleveland's already on the DT tour map!! Oh YEAH!

Well, I'm pretty sure that I am going to see this new video at least a couple of times on Finnish TV. We have Headbanger's Ball on MTV (hosted by Timo Kotipelto of Stratovarius, btw.) and they have been playing lots of videos from RR lablemates (Trivium, Opeth, etc..) so DT will be played also for sure. Secondly, this video will be played in the Finninh Top 40 chart show (on TV2, a national chanel) when Systematic Chaos premiers in the top 10 (probably in top 3) in the Fin chart. How cool is that? I sincerely hope that they get lots of airtime with this video around the world, don't forget that there are many rock shows in different countries, it's not all about eMpTyV. I can't wait..

Nickelback's videos are aired, Stonesour's videos are aired, 36 crazy fists' videos are aired, Dream Theater is next. Why would Roadrunner invest their money, even though theyre a loaded label, into a band that wouldnt't get air play. Obviously they will!

Not to be a Negative Nancy here, but I just can't get what MP said about DT not being a band made for video's. (for those who have absolutley no idea what I am talking about, please go buy the 5 Years in a LIVEtime DVD and listen to the commentary). But I have faith in MP and the band, and I am very confident that this video is gonna be great. With all that being said, ....this DVD is gonna be freaking sweet!
You don't know how fast you were going? So then I can write whatever I want on the ticket then, huh?

ORIGINAL: Estevarium As for the video possibly not getting enough airplay, I got an answer for all you folks: YOUTUBE.COM Youtube is good for exposure but the quality really does take away from the experience. I wish they would do something about that. I mean the audio is mono, and data rate for both the video and audio together is 200Kbps... I would like to see them encode a high definition verson in the H.264 codec and allow it to be downloaded.

The next song in the series is Repentance, but it's not the last. It's steps 8 and 9 out of 12, so the last song in the AA saga will probalby be on the next album with steps 10, 11, and 12.

Do you think there's any chance that Roadrunner might run a limited # of special editions on vinyl for collectors? That artwork deserves to be on something bigger than a cd.

ORIGINAL: zoso ORIGINAL: STEVETHEATER I think I've read most posts by now but couldn't find anything on the format this DVD will be released... especially for us European fans (A lot of people seem to have problems with different type of formats) My question is: Will this DVD have the NTSC or PAL version?... (NTSC for USA and PAL for Europe) Maybe Weymolith or Mike can awnser this... Thanks, Steve I'm ASSuming that It will be region Free More likely they'll release NTSC where it makes sense, and PAL elsewhere. That's how all their other DVDs have worked (trust me, that fact has screwed me over badly).

But I agree with zoso that it will likely be region free.

ORIGINAL: KDawg I think DT would be the best band in the world to be in right now. I mean, think about it...with the state of the music business right now, most mainstream artists are suffering more than usual cuz no one wants to buy albums any more. Meanwhile...Portnoy comes on his computer, types a few words, and everyone goes nucking futs about the new album and a lot of us saying they're going to buy both!!! Like how great is that? They even sell out concert tours...have ytsejam records...how much better does it get for a band? I mean, sure they have to deal with crap like spoiled fans, and leaked info but when it comes down to it...people are still seling out their shows AND buying their albums...all the versions...hehe... DT...YOU GUYS ROCK!! EDIT: first post in 9th page of thread...OMG IM A NUGGET!!!11!!1 Hell year! Ive always thought that a bands sucsess can be measured by how many people will by your new album without hearing it at all!! I trust DT to this degree for shure. Bring on june 5th!!!!
See, if you sing to win, that implies something else - you are afraid to lose. That fear will effectively prevent you from breaking new ground. Daniel Gildenlow

This will be the first DT studio release during my period of being a DT fan. I got turned on to them by a neighbor in late 2005, after Octavarium was already out, so I'm really excited to get this on the day it comes out.

You know, as an audiophile, I'm eager to know whether or not the special edition will be a DVD-A (24 bit/48 kHz 6 Channel) release or a Dolby Digital/DTS 5.1 release. Does anyone have any info?

It will be my third, I got into them right after Six Degrees came out! Train of Thought was a cool first listen on the day it came out, but I think SC will top both the other new releases on the first listen!

Holy balls, a 90-minute documentary on the making of the album!!! This is one of the things I've been wishing bands would do for YEARS, and again DT comes through, way ahead of anyone. It'll make a nice 3-year anniversary gift from my wife, since SC comes out the following day. I'm jacked up for this one.

Seems like something Doug Heffernan would do, getting Carrie something he wanted for himself. Unless your wife likes DT...

I don't have 5.1 either, but I imagine that i'm going to have to get it really quick. I can almost picture each member of the band on their own channel, playing at different time signatures, trading licks in the middle of solos like in JLMB. I just can't imagine DT NOT utilizing 5.1 to it's fullest on the new album. ORIGINAL: OnlyAMatterOfTime ORIGINAL: FlashCE Will the Special Edition version have normal stereo settings? I want the DVD but not the 5.1... I was just about to ask that. Not because I don't want the 5.1 settings but because I don't have a sorround sound system. I'll probably end up getting both versions though. That being said, I can't wait for this release. June 5th seems soooooooooo far away right now. ORIGINAL: Portnoy The band will shoot a video next week for the first single off the album, "Constant Motion". Maybe after 15 years, there'll be a good reason to watch MTV again.

ORIGINAL: YtseJammer03 ORIGINAL: szabiakanich Look at this pic. This version does have the majesty symbol in it http://www.roadrun.com/artists/DreamTheater/showphoto.aspx?photoID=16064 I'm guessing the one that Mike posted wasn't the final copy!! [edit]Now my avatar is out of date. I love how the Green light is lit up with the Majesty symbol. It's like it's saying, "All systems go for Systematic Chaos 2007!" I just sense the speed on this one.

Guys .. I found this one on wikipedia ... and the Majesty symbol is on all three lights ..! It's not as cool as the one with the sign only on the green light though.

Great news! Will the Special Edition be available for pre-order? These things sell-out so quickly these days. By the way, just got the Score DVD for my 40th birthday and it's awesome! Only one downer - no commentary; you guys are the best at commentaries!! Amazing how relaxed and happy you all looked that night, especially James. Greetings from England!
