Dream Theater 2007/2008 World Tour Dates!! (updated 2/23/08)

Portnoy said they wouldn't be doing the Evening With format so they could finally reach the places they couldn't when they did do EvenighWith format.  So what's the bloody point of this?  Other than to give them a break I guess.   It really upsets me that the SE might get screwed over again .

No, MP said they were droppingthe Evening With format because they wanted to change it up, and because the 3 hour long shows were really exhausting them. It had nothing to do with whether or not they'd be able to play cities they haven't for years.

But as I said already, I think the chances of DT coming back for another swing thru North America early next year to hit a lot of the cities previously missed is much better than in the past. By no means is that a guarantee, but I wouldn't give up hope for a DT appearance then.

I noticed that the onsale date for the Minneapolis show is on May 5th, so does anyone know if the band will still be offering the Platinum/Gold ticket packages?  I loved it when I got one last tour, so I wanted to have that experience again.

Montreal is great, but I'm still hoping for a date in Quebec City !

I had a feeling they would play the Bell Centre this time. No more waiting in line! After all those previous shows held at the sold-out Metropolis (2,200 capacity), we'll finally see how many fans DT can really draw in Montreal.
 
I hope that I can score some pre-sale tickets like alot of shows at the Bell Centre.
 
And an Ottawa date would be AWESOME! I'd hit both Ottawa and Montreal shows for sure.

The following is nothing but speculation on my part - MP has not told me anything that I am stating here:

Hate to break it to you guys, but considering how long they normally spend on a tour leg thru North America (usually 4-5 weeks), I highly doubt they're gonna be hitting the NW or SE this time around. With the latest tour dates announced, there's just no way they could squeeze dates into the routing to include any of those cities/areas without having to prolong this leg signifcantly and that's not gonna happen considering that some band members don't wanna be out on the road for more than 4-5 weeks at a stretch.

I don't mean to piss in your Wheaties, but I just wanna warn you not to put any hope into getting gigs in those areas this year. That said, I'd wager with the increase of promotion that Road Runner's giving to DT, the chances of DT doing a second headlining run thru North America are much better than before. Of course, that's a long time off (I suspect early spring of next year) and there's still a lot that can happen between now and then, but it is an outside hope. Still, I think it's a much better hope than seeing shows on this upcoming leg in the aforementioned areas.

so, if Im not mistaken the last time DT was anywhere near the NW was August of '03 in Seattle. Never played in Vancouver, or in Canada west of Ontario for that matter (came close with Gigantour - But nope - didnt happen) This will be the third tour in a row that the entire Pacific Northwest has been skipped. Just to add insult to injury, Rush is playing Calgary, bypassing Vancouver completely and headed for Seattle.

I gotta wonder what the hell is wrong with my town? Promotors refuse to even entertain the idea of getting DT to play here. the one rock radio station we have here hasnt even heard of DT, but if you want to hear the White Stripes, Nickelback and Nirvana they got ya covered (time and time and time again arrgghh) My city sucks for decent entertainment!

sorry for the rant - it is in no way directed at the band! I WILL see Dream Theater live one day!!!

I don't think I'm going to be able to go to this tour.

Toronto is the ideal city for me to fly to because I have so much family and friends there. But the concert date is the 18th of August, 2 days before I leave to go to Europe with a group I'm in. Anyways, we're bound to have practices before we leave.

I'm talking it over with our director now. He's a fan of Dream Theater, so we're going to try to work something out for it.

The only time I've seen any members of DT was when G3 came to Myrtle Beach recently.  It was amazing.
