Hey Gang,
Well we just mastered the album today, so it is now officially finished and will be in the hands of Roadrunner Records tomorrow!!

Actually better songtitles than the last few albums. But hey, in the end it will be the content that is important. Though I desperately want this album to be as dark and metal as it sounds.

Oh no!!!! Dream Theater's putting out a Christian album!!!!!! Neal Morse must have influenced Mike when writing the lyrics!! I mean look at the titles!!

•In The Presence of Enemies is obviously in reference to being in the presence of Satan. That there's two parts to it proves that he comes back for revenge!
•Forsaken clearly must be abooot how you are forsaken is you don't believe in Jesus.
•The Dark Eternal Night talks abooot Satan's reign.
•Repentance is obviously abooot repenting of your sins.
•Prophets of War is all abooot prophecying, and that only happens in the Bible!
•The Ministry of Lost Souls can only mean trying to preach and save sinners.

Looking good man. Can't tell much from the tracklisting, but then again, I've loved everything else from DT thus far, so I'm fairly sure I'll buy it.

That was my first thought upon seeing the two parts book end the whole album. Really tho, I'd bet its more just the concept of an epic split in two parts to be at the beginning and end. First PF, then PT and now DT...OMG ITZ A NUGGITT!!!!11!1

Oh trust me, I remember it well. I thought abooot including the word again, but seeing as ToT and 8v turned out not to be Christian albums, it didn't seem to make sense. That said, this is clearly a Christian album, judging only by the song titles which could be interpreted in any of a million different ways, but it's obvious that they have to be Christian if ya know what I mean, right?

(BTW you find the original ToT thread that started that mess? I could find my 8v post, but not the ToT one)

gotta hear the songs to really take much from the titles...the whole surprise I suppose slightly is no "The Pumpkin King"..but then again the new PT doesn't have "The Beast" but that was more of an online/live show thing I think.

I would think not, as Portnoy played us "the first 8 minutes of the album" in the studio, while the epic, which we recorded "Hey"s over, was a different track and contained no elements that reminded me of the "first 8 minutes".  They could've always reworked the tracklist though.  We'll have to wait for the track lengths

I can't tell anything about an album from it's song titles, but I know one thing for sure - I'm looking forward to this new CD big time. All the news from MP's corner of the universe has been great lately and the recent photos of the guys look so happy and content, plus a bit of excitement with changing labels, I can't help but imagine that all of that combined had an influence on the recording process. Can't wait!

BTW why would the AA saga hold this back from being a concept album?  The AA song could be applied to both a concept and Mike's experience.  Lyrics are open for interpretation.

as for which song the epic will be, i'm definitely in the "in the presence of enemies" camp - i expect it to be a 2 part epic ala shine on you crazy diamond, rather than a short intro/outro ala pigs on the wing

also, the AA song will be Forsaken, firstly because TGP was Track 1, TDS was Track 2 and TROAE was Track 1, therefore this time it will be Track 2 again

(actually i'm going to also predict it will be Repentance, as it would fit with steps 8 and 9, which involve making amends with those you have harmed, but Forsaken would still be fairly relevant)

oh and ps, can't fucking wait   \m/

In The Presence of Enemies Pt.1 and 2 - AA saga continuance, this time dealing with 4 instead of 2 parts (could also be Repentance, the name would fit to the topic)

Constant Motion - another great DT-Instrumental

Prophets of War - the religious/political song à la In the name of God and Sacrificed Sons

and either The Dark Eternal Night is the epic (because of "Eternal") or it's The Ministry of Lost Souls... the name just sounds like something looooooong

Here's another theory... perhaps this is the album where the AA saga is finished... perhaps there is more than one AA song on the CD. I guess that'd be pretty boring! But still, it's a possibility. And I want to see some JR lyrics!

This feels like opening up the Sears Catalog back in the day looking at all the toys I wanted for christmas and having to wait. I don't want just one Presence of Enemies I want them both. Then i want the new game Forsaken. After that I would like the new Constant motion bed. The dark eternal night curtains and repentance lamp would make my bed room cool. Every GI Joe fan has to have the Prophets of War playset. Last but not least new Harry Potter book The Ministy of Lost Souls. Thanks Santa Mike.

Some very intriguing names there.

The ministry of souls made me think of harry potter

Prophets of war is probably "related" with ITNOG and SS.

Overall pretty dark themes which probably means a very heavy album. And that's good.

My guess for the AA song is repentance.

I'm pretty sure it'a a concept album. The same song opening and closing the album, the dark vibe in all the names...

This is a funny comment.. am I the first one to mention CHEESE in this thread? I'm not trying to bash or anything but I wouldn't be surprised if those were Iced Earth song titles.. but DT? Going power metal? Slaying dragons? Lost souls? You have to admit it's cheesy:). Anyway- I hope it's a good album and I like it more than tha last one.
