Live near NYC?? Want to be on the new DT??

I would be there since i live in NY but i decided to go away to college in F*CKING MICHIGAN, nice pic btw emtee, so i'll be here instead of being on the new album.  Mike u should definately wait a month till spring break, feb24 to mar5 so i can be on the album lol.  Good luck to everyone who will be there, don't shit the bed and mess up the whole album.  U lucky bastards will probably get to meet the band too, ArRRRG

What makes me even more nervous is the fact that people are going to be travelling from really far away (or taking off work, or whatever) to go to this. It's really cool, you're hardcore fans and all that. But now imagine you're the 41st person in line and you don't get in. Are you going to just shrug your shoulders, say "well, that sucks" and go get a beer (at Heartland Brewery, because their beer kicks ass!), or are you going to be upset about it and complain on the forums?

Granted, 99% of the people who don't get in will take it fine and go on their merry way, but it only takes one to ruin something.

I dunno, it was something I was thinking about when reading through this thread...

At least speaking for myself, I don't know about everyone in here, but I'm driving in from Rochester, NY, which should take about 6-7 hours and sleeping at my house in CT for the night and coming into the city Friday morning to hang out and then when it gets closer to 1pm, make my way to the studio and have hopes that everyone is respecting the "no lining up before 1pm" rule and that we can all get in line and just see what happens.

A friend of mine, who is as huge of a fan as I am, is also coming and we are taking big chances.  We don't have classes on Fridays and I'm not a very "risk taking" person.  I don't party (never been to one), I rarely drink, don't do drugs, don't take any sort of risk (haven't taken many risks if any since hte day I was born)...

I figure, hey if we get in, that's amazing, and if we don't well it was a fun trip, we can still have fun in NYC and at least I took a chance on some very slim odds that my friend and I would be one of those 40 people.

Sure I'd be bummed - who wouldn't? But it's not something that's going to make me ungrateful...I've been telling everyone around here about how much this band rocks and how awesome they are to their fans that they even gave us a chance like this to be on something that I'm no doubt will be a killer release when it comes out.

I'm looking so forward to this road trip regardless of the outcome :) I'm just praying that everyone going will respect MP and the rules and not camp out and risk jeopardizing the whole thing by being too selfish.

This annoys the crap out of me.  Mike is trying to do something soooooooooooo cool that most bands wouldn'e even think of, and we're acting like this.  Sheesh, no wonder "Never Enough" was written in the first place.

My cup runneth over regarding DT-goodness in the last few years...enough to last a few lifetimes.  As such, I won't be making the journey for the chance, although one cool Forumer has offered to transport me from Oswego to NYC. 
 
It would be totally surreal to be even a tiny part of a DT album, which I really couldn't comprehend (I'm not worthy).  For those who "cross over to the other side" , have a great experience. 
 
Awesomeness definitely permeates the DT world.

Dude it was sent out via the DT mailing list which is subscribable on the DT site. Alot of people know about it.

I think this is an awsome oppatunity for you guys. Don't waste it. I think just being in that que will be an honour! Be sure to give us a full report on what you see in there! haha. I'm guessing jordan will be there to teach you the melody's. Dunno how it'll work but yeah, as long as your not sworn to secrecy by blood you better have a full report! haha!

IMO the ticket-thing provided online sounds like a good idea. This is gonna end up with hundreds of fans waiting outside the studios for hours creating problems for the studio and stuf.. 

PS. Just thought....we want filmage from out front to see what goes on....but if you have a camera on ya your not gonna be let in! Maybe you could leave it at reception....ahh crap no....then you wont really be in the que if your filming......maybe take a random friend who dosnt know DT or wanna be on it and leave him outside with a camera....yeah someone do that! :D

I wouldn't be surprised if MP (or someone associated with the band/crew) was doing some filming of the group learning their part for a "the making of..." video segment or something. That would be cool.

Yeah i think thats an almost definate. Cant wait to see the look of amazement on the lucky ones faces haha because if it was filmed it'd literally only be minutes after they got let in and met mike or whatever! Will be cool to see ;)

Now that would be awesome, not to just be a part of a DT Song but to be part of (what will be) a platinum selling album.
 
Alas, I cant make it unfortunately, I'm washing my hair that day.... damn hairdresser wont reschedule - oh and if I could there is the small problem of several 000's of miles of water in the way between UK and NYC.

Either way, I'll be attending and I, like many others, probably won't make it.  I'm perfectly fine with that given I know the odds. 

I don't really think we're acting unreasonably about this, it is discussion after all.  The only people causing havoc are the ones calling the studio, which I hope the announcement about not calling was as widespread as the original.

It's official, my boss gave me the day off.  Now all I can do is pray that I'm one of the lucky ones.  Do I get any extra points for having a Majesty tattoo?   Looking forward to this and seeing some of you fine people there.

My bonus points would be: Majesty tattoo, and probably farthest distance travelled.

Acting like what? If you mean the people who are bothering the studio, then fair enough. But not if you're referring to the discussion in this thread. Practically everybody in this thread has stated what an incredibly cool idea it is. One or two people have asked for more than what is on offer, and I don't think much of that, but that's very much a tiny exception to the overwhelming excited positive vibe in this thread.

Some people, myself included, have respectfully pointed out the potential logistical difficulties and made suggestions for ways in which such problems may be avoided. They're doing this because they want to ensure that this idea turns out to be the great success it deserves to be. If you have a problem with that (and it's not entirely clear), then I think you're the one bringing unnecessary negativity and conflict into this thread.

I'm done here, except for ending on this positive note:

Mike, it's absolutely fantastic that you're doing this. I hope it's a huge success for everyone involved.

Yeah, all of you who don't make it into the recording should totally get together to eat and/or drink, and take lots of photos/videos of the little mini get-together! This could almost be as much fun as getting into the recording! Someone should document it and send it to MP to include in any future project about "the making of..." Maybe he'd use it! It could be interesting to follow the rest of the group. Like they do with some of the people who DON'T make the cut on American Idol. :)

Since i'm in jersey, i guess i could take the train in, but i have no one to go with.

It's official, I'm not going.  Have fun all of you, yell loud for the rest of us who aren't lucky enough to live in NYC.

I won't make it there since I have no vacation days left at work (My car battery died, so I spent my remaining days getting it fixed at the shop), but I do like the idea of the forumers who get turned away to organize a get together.  I'm going to suggest to all of you to have a lunch/dinner at a local place in the area of the studio.  Find a BIG place though, as the turnout will probably be high.  Make this seem like a mini-DT fan convention, and get to know your fellow forumer.  Those who do get to be inside the studio can the join the party on the way back, since they'll only be there for an hour.

...And that ladys and Gentelmen is what I call Geographical Fatalism...
