MP interviews Peart, Mason, Bruford and Ulrich for upcoming Rhythm magazine!

It would be difficult to come up with original and introspective questions to ask these heros.
 
After just reading Pearts update on Rushs new record it occured to me that an interview with him could easily
stretch unknowingly from minutes to hours.
 
Hopefully we will all learn something new and exciting from each of these legends.

Same here. I was told it could take up to a month to get there (Deptford, NJ that is).

I went to Borders today and they didn't have either.

Stopped into Borders again today. Talked to the lady in charge of magazines. She said it should be in by friday.
She's saving me a copy. $9.99 an issue. I consider it a collectors edition though so the price isn't an issue.

I checked at B&N today and was told they have not carried Rhythm in the past.  I have no idea if it's just that location or chainwide.  Best to wait a few days and call before driving to a store.  I'm going to try Borders this weekend.

I saw the latest issue at Borders and B&N this week. The last page has an ad for Mike's issue. I would guess it won't be on the shelf til after the beginning of the year here, because I was at B&N in late November and saw an issue but it was the one before the one I saw this week. In other words, the newest issue just came in, in the last few weeks, thus Mike's issue will not be til conceivably a month passes (early-mid January). Unless they do something special for the Holidays with special issues like this one.

Crud. I just went to Borders to pick up the magazine. Unfortunately the Dec. issue is the one with Jason Bonham
on the cover. Looks like I'll be waiting until the end of Jan.
 
I did read the back cover though, where they tell you what's coming for the next issue. It mentions that MP will
be interviewing these guys and it also says...."And Jason Bittner grills Mike Portnoy"....interesting.

Picked it up today at Borders on Oxford street.  Really informative, have only read the NP, LU and JB interviews but it's shaping up to be one of the most informative issues of any magazine that I've ever read, and I'm a guitarist.  Lars Ulrich's perspective is really eye opening.  Very nice work!  Mr P doesn't do anything by halves!

i went to border's yesterday and saw absolutely no trace of it.

I was also at Borders yesterday and they had the December Issue still on the shelf, I asked the sales girl and she said that they are supposed to have a certain date to receive them but they never come on time!!  She also said someone else had just asked her the same question!!!  

My local B&N carries the magazine, but still have the previous issue on the shelf.

Maybe I'm the only one who will raise this issue but...
I'll also probably get some heat about it (although I may be surprised and people will actually not be the usual blind fan-boys).

This interview, while being a mile stone for Mike and very important for him personally, is no different in essence than any other DT-related interview that took place - all/most of them usually show up in the forum scanned and no one (not wey, not Mike, etc) has ever had any issue about it yet now there is some un-spoken-of-problem with doing so?

People will buy the magazine regardless. Those who cannot do so for whatever reason (and there /are/ legitimate reasons) will be 'dead in the water' and for no real reason (because this is no different than any other interview posting).

So really, seriously, what is the problem here?

And yes, I am one who cannot get a copy of this magazine, among many in this forum.

The Barnes and Noble hear in Dallas said they usually get UK mags in about midmonth, anywhere between the 10th and 25th.

FINALLY!! Found a copy at Borders in Longmont.  Awesome idea, and a great read.  Mike, you asked some great questions, and better still, you got some great responses.  The interviews with Neil and Bill were my favorite, and it was great to see Bill Bruford's humor was in fine form, especially when talking about his ex-bandmates.  Man, those interviews must have been highly educational.  I hope you got as much out of them as I did.  I would've never figured Nick Mason for an Art Blakey fan, but that was a great surprise.  Interesting to note that Bruford and Mason were more into jazz than the Beatles and Stones.  Great stuff.

Also picked up a copy of Drum (February) with a 7 page article on MP.

Picked up my copy on the 15th at Borders, promptly went home, & read the whole issue.  Fantastic stuff, & a nice look into the personalities of some of my favorite drummers.

I also snagged a copy of the latest DRUM! issue, since MP has a feature in that as well.  The whole issue is about double bass playing, & was extremely interesting to read.

So yeah, MP prominently featured in 2 of the "Big 3" drum mags (the biggest being Modern Drummer, IMO) in the same month!!!  Pretty fucking sweet.


------->edit:  Yeah, if I would've read the 2nd line of dkepner's post, I would've seen that I wasn't cluing you into anything new concerning the DRUM! issue.    Oh well.

Bought mine at Barnes & Noble a couple days ago.......as I was reading it I decided to look at the stats on MP's kit-he plays DW pedals again? A typo, or a new endorsement?

Finally got it today. I read it through at lunch, what a great read and I love the format of guest editor. As I expected NP's answers were much longer than everyone else.
 
At the end of Nick's interview I think you spoke for many of us when you cited the emotion and having tears in your
eyes...I did also and my wife was a bit surprised...it was very heavy for me to see that. You tried 3 times to have
him reflect on it more and he seemed to not really elaborate much on the emotional side. Maybe it meant more to
all of us than it did for the band.

Seeing the January issue just about everywhere I look these days.  Snap it up while it's hot!!

I struck out at Border's and my dad looked at a Barnes and Noble for me and had the same luck.  You think it is too late now?  I havent chekced the B&N here in Springfield yet.

finally got it today at my local borders i never thought these magazines would make it to puerto rico

I just went to a B&N that still has 2 copies of the December issue in the shelf.  They have been there for over 3 weeks.   The head magazine girl said they still haven't gotten the January issue.
