It should be interesting. She' s a pretty amazing golfer, but I wonder how she' ll do hitting from the men' s tees. It' d be pretty hilarious if she won it (which I' m sure will have some accusing me of sexism, but that' s not the intention - I' m not saying it' s impossible for her to win or that she' s somehow less of an athlete or golfer because she didn' t win from the men' s tees or whatever - oh forget it) - maybe then people would shut up about Tiger Woods and give Annika a little more recognition.

What is the difference in length to hole between a men' s and ladies tee?

20 yards maybe(per hole depending on Par)

a men' s golfcourse(Par 72)usually averages around 7,200 yards while women' s average about mmmmmm 6,800(or something close to that)

and apparently now all the women think they can play with the big boyz, like those William monkees who played against a male player(ranked #200 in the world and the guy still beat the crap out of them)

just stay in your own league

Sorenstam' s main stipulation about playing against men has been to compete on a course that does not require power off the tee. Colonial is 7,080 yards (par 70) and puts a premium on accuracy.

Colonial is a walk in the park, try Carnoustie for a start!

According to the Colonial Country Club' s website, the championship tee yardage is 7,010 yards. The women' s tee yardage is 5,745. That' s fairly significant.

but it' s still an easy course in terms of course management(there are barely any dogleft etc)

or in other words its pretty straight-ahead(tho she will probably be using woods on the 2nd shot from Par 5' s, while Tiger probably flows along with sum nice 8 iron )

                So..7010 - 5745 = 1265

                1265 / 18 = 70

70 yards on every hole. Does she hit as long as the men do? If she does, then what does any of it matter?

                  NO she doesn' t!

her driving average is probably 285 yds(check official stats)

while someone like Tiger or Duval drives around 310 yds(average)

and besides that *their* iron playing is much developed(tho she does have sum nice accuracy and nice putting stroke)

look at the *Fact Sheet* here Colonial

just on the front 9(holes #2, #3 and #9 aren' t reacheable for her!)

Wrong Colonial Course, Creeping Death. The Colonial on the PGA tour is in Fort Worth, Texas. Here' s the link. They have the scorecards for men and women there that show the overall yaradage and for each hole.

in that case except for the 3rd hole(and sum of the par 5' s)she wouldn' t really have much trouble

but still shouldn' t play, adhere to the laws damnit

                              Tennis isn' t golf. DUH!
We' ll see how she will manage. I think it would be great if she was average in the men' s competition. I' m not a golf ' connaisseur' , but I doubt the likes of Tiger Woods are within her range.

I think the difference is that on the women' s courses you have to make it hit the tiny button above the hole before it goes in.

I may be confused with something else though.

Okay, the only question I have now is if the " rule" about muffing a drive so badly that it doesn' t go past the women' s tees goes into effect. You know, if you don' t drive it past the women' s tees you play the rest of the hole with your pants down.

Something to consider if it' s one of those really hot as balls days.

She' s going to have to play the best golf of her life to have a shot.

If you' ve actually watched and compared the LPGA to the PGA, you' ll notice that the women, for whatever reason, are simply not in the same league as the men around the greens.

It' s a part of the game which, if I had no idea what the truth was, would have guessed that the short game would be the most similar between the two tours, when in fact the women, in comparison, are just poor at it.
I choose to block the posts of men.

That is, DrumRMan and Ultra Man.

I' m surprised nobody has mentioned the flip side . . . when is a man going to play in an LPGA event? There was an article in a recent Sports Illustrated written by a guy on the Buy.com tour saying he should be able to play an LPGA event . . . it should go both ways.

Though I think the LPGA actually has a rule that says men can' t play on the tour. (And no jokes about how most of the women on the tour are " men" anyway )
