Finally got one of my bands songs posted on our site. Tell me what you think.....

Hey everyone. I haven' t been here in quite a while since I was without internet service due to moving and such. It' s damn good to be back though. The place really looks great!!

Anyway, my band and I finally built our own studio and are getting some tracks layed down now, and I finally got one up on our site. The song is one I wrote about 2 1/2 years ago before the band actually formed. I' m a drummer as those of you that remember me may know, but I actually wrote this song on guitar (I play a little, but I' m a greenhorn for the most part) Although My guitarist Scott really helped bring the song to life by adding his own bit of flavor to it. The site itself is still under construction and is constantly changing, but I' m slowly getting it together. At any rate, I hope you' ll check out the tune and tell me what you think. It' s not prog. by any means. More of a power pop rock kinda sound, although some of our other tunes get much more out into left field than this one (they will be coming to the site soon). This is actually the first song I have ever wrote on my own, so I hope you like it, but if not I hope you' ll at least be gentle. LMAO!!! Here' s a link to the site:

Hey it really is cool. I like it, a fresh change from the barrage of prog bands here. I gotta say, I dig the vibe, but as a guiarist I would have come at a totally different angle. The modulation effects on the strummed chords were too wet. (But I perfer a dry clean tone...) My major (and only) drawback is the way he goes into the solo. He starts the solo with a bent note, and that note clashes severly with the last note the singer held! If you still have the chance, have him go back and fix the intro of the solo. Also, at aother point in the solo, he bends a little out of key....

Other than that, I love the song, but I am just a picky guitarist.

Very different for this board but a nicely written and well executed song. Reminds me of Del Amitri for some reason. Good work and keep it up.

Damn, it' s so refreshing to hear just plain good fuckin' music. Love the chorus.....luuuv the chorus. Just nice and solid, and it really moves nicely. Singing is excellent (and thank God he doesn' t sound like another Cobain/Vedder/Rossdale!) Rhythm section is tight, rhythm guitars are tight.

Okay, the not-as-good news. The guitar player REALLY needs to redo his solo.

" Play a solo. So-lo we can' t hear it!"

Man, that was dreadful. I' m not being mean, I' m just being very producer-ish. He needs to work his stuff out perfectly ahead of time because his intonation is awful and it sounds like once he loses it, his hair catches on fire. Also, it may just be my perception, but the lead guitar parts seem a bit......sharp.....sounds like Gary Richrath' s Les Paul-Marshall sound, which isn' t bad, but I would expect a slightly smoother sound in conjunction to the tone of the rest of the recording. It' s the only down-spot of the entire recording. Other than that, I completely dug it. Yeah, I could definitely hear this song being beat to death on radio...

Also, you need a bit more EQ mastering, because it' s a bit on the muddy side. I would be happy to help you out with this, if you' re interested. If not, then I' ll just fuck off respectfully (because I don' t want to step on anyone' s toes), but I' ve done an EQing, and it sounds beautiful man.

" That' s beauuuuuuuutiful maaaaan!!"

Yes, very good song. I actually didn' t notice the first note of the solo colliding with the singing until I read about it here. Good work.

Hey everyone thanks very much for all the positive feedback(as well as constuctive criticizm) about the tune. I was pretty nrevous to post it because I knew I would get honest answers here and wasn' t sure how it would be received, but that is what I' m after. Thanks again everyone.

Hey, it takes some balls to post a track on a forum such as this. Nice job on the song, a good catchy tune, I really enjoyed it.

Also the production was pretty good too, nice mix, the drum sound fits well with the overall feel of the track etc... Excellent...!

It' s about now that I normally push for an " MP3s of our Music" section here at the Forum...

Not my type of music but very good none the less.

The guitar solo is just fine the way it is, infact better. Just tell you drummer to metal down.

Thanks once again. Oh and I' m the drummer by the way. I guess I didn' t mention that. Are the drums really that aggressive? I thought they where pretty tame in comparison to most of our other songs, but then again you haven' t heard them yet. Thanks for the input and I' ll keep it in mind as I do all input I receive.
