Why do people hate Creed so much?

I agree with everyone, but just a quick question....have we not ALL asked the same questions about most of the newer Rush cd' s?? geddy(though I love him) does sound the same almost every time!

Creed hasn' t been around for 25 years, either.

Surely, Creed could come up with something else. I can pardon the occasional blandness of RUSH.

I don' t like Creed because of Scott Stapp' s " Christ complex." Every time you see him he' s trying to look like the modern day image of Jesus. " Arms wide open," blah blah blah. Give me a break.

Titles like Human Clay, My Sacrifice, Arms Wide Open, just spell it out that this band' s message is Christianity. But then Stapp' s ass denies it and says, " No we' re not a Christian band." The guy *wants* to be Jesus, just look at him! I just don' t like the hypocrisy of the message.

I happen to be Christian, and not preaching or anything, the message of Creed(CREED is the band' s name!), of " we' re all about spirituality and blah blah blah but you can get all that without God, just listen to Creed!" just pisses me off. I think they' re cashing in on Christianity' s message without admitting that the message is Christianity.

That and Scott Stapp is a shitty Eddie Vetter impersonator.

At least Bono admits, and even brings it out in the open that he follows Christ. Listen to Mysterious Ways. It' s actually about the Holy Spirit, not a woman. If Scott Stapp tried singing that My Sacrifice crap Bono could just go " In the name of love!" and Scott Stapp would die right there. Boner is way cooler than Creed.

creed sucks because stapp (and the rest?) put on the whole facade of being a good christian and making it in the music industry. it' s nothing other than a ploy for parents to tell their children, " ... now that' s a band... why can' t you listen to good music like creed?..." hell, my mom even made that same statement about the band, and even though she doesn' t let music be the center of her universe like i, she was able to point that fact out.

it' s obvious the drummer started out late and never cared to listen to the phenominal drummers to help enhance his skill, only to be considered a novice for his entire career, even if he did some how imrpove.

ha, did anyone hear about that incident before the new year (03) when stapp was so intoxicated at one of creed' s shows that he was performing songs in their entirety while he was either lying on his back, with his arm around tremonti, or leaning over on the drum rack?? leaving the stage for about 10-20 minutes and being welcomed back to a bunch of " boo' s" ... and upon his arrival after his " recoop" he starts saying " get the fuck out of your seats mother fuckers!"

what a great christian.. i wish my parents would have let me listen to this band; had they been around if i were 6 or 7 years old.

I LOVED the song My Own Prison when it came out and got the CD at a used store... and it was so weird to me - half the album was decent, and half the album sounded the the same noise separated into different tracks - like you could have changed the order and the titles and even the lyrics and it didn' t matter. And it seems that way on their other albums as well - a couple of decent songs and alot that all just sound the SAME - and not just Stapp' s voice, but the guitar the drums... everything. Actually, that guitarist sort of annoys me because he' s lauded as being a current guitar monster and his stuff sounds very ' average' to me - the way he hits the notes, everything. As a matter of fact, average is the word that really hits with me for the band - I call them the most overrated average band out there.

(and don' t get me started on the fucking Arms Wide Open video - the guy wrote a song about the birth of his first son. Cool. Heavy shit - real-life introspection.... and the video has them running around a hillside... dodging meteors. FUCKING METEORS. What the fuck does that have to do with ANYTHING?!? Bet it was that video hack director who does all J-LO and Missy Elliot' s videos who helmed that Cleveland Steamer....... Meteors..... makes about as much sense as the Solar Powered Submarine in XXX....)

I know how it is to rediscover something. Sometimes you just have to be in the right mind frame to appreciate something and get the full effect.

How come no one has mentioned " Weathered" ? I think that cd is really good. BTW, Creed' s cover of Riders on the Storm from the Doors tribute album freakin' rocks! Best song on that whole album.

I like Creed a lot. I listen to them when I need a slight break from " complex" music and Scott aint half bad to look at!

i dont hate creed in fact i bought their 2 first albums becuase they had really great songs for being honest with you i loved creed because they sound like pearl jam but after listening to creed i realized they are not like pearl jam....PEARL JAM IS THE BEST ALTERNATIVE BAND. they have survived the years theres no more nirvana..smashing pumpkings or soundgarden but pearl jam stills alive

This is a Soundgarden song from their (quite excellent) Badmotorfinger cd. Cornell wrote it about rock stars doing their " Jesus Christ poses" on stage, much in the same way that Stapp does.

[rant]Creed is not bad. They are just OUTRAGEOUSLY over-rated, and over-played. I even kinda liked My Own Prison. The problem here is that they saw their ticket to fame and fortune and they took it. And guess what... IT WORKED. They continue to play the same tired old crap that they' ve been playing since the beginning and people continue to buy it. They (or their label, or both) are money grubbing screw-offs that don' t care about making GOOD music. And it is that that makes the music industry the sorry pile of shit that it is today. This is why I don' t like Creed [/rant].
