Can you just imagine the excitement running through Mike 5 mins before he shook Neil's hand? I bet he was like any of us would be just before meeting him!
 
ANY collaboration - whatever it may be - between my 2 top bands of all time just about has me wetting myself! The only bad thing is - I'm in the UK and if there is to be a Rush/DT tour there's no way it would make it over here. America always gets the best shows.

Rush and Dream Theater tour that would be the best tour ever and i thought Dream Theater and Yes was good.

Wow!! Talk about taking advantage of your vacation! "How about going to Madison Square Garden for a Roger Waters show? You can be in soundcheck. Nick Mason will be there. You can also meet with your childhood idol Neil Peart and spend a couple of days with the guy!" "What the hell, I'm on vay-kay, let's do both!"

I never read NP's books. Are they actually good and which one would you suggest to pick up first?

This could totally work. They both play about 90 minutes and encore together. Could you imagine a YYZ/Ytsejam hybrid, Tom Sawyer, and Learning to Live encore with both bands?!?!

That is great and everything mike but I thought you supposed to be writing an album?

Rush have a HUU-UUUGE Southern audience and have played Nashville, Charlotte, etc.  Pairing them with DT... *knocks on formica*

If they tour together will we see a Rush/DT jam at the end like they did with Queensryche? Just imagine Peart and Peartnoy drumming together! ;-)

DT/Rush would be a godsend.

Whoa! Mike and Neil sharing the same space? I need new drawers and quick. That is awesome. Neil is the reason that I picked up sticks 16 years ago and Mike gave my playing focus after graduating college. Man, I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall at that historic meeting. I can't wait to hear what has transpired from their meeting. Tour? Sabian clinic? Neil back with Tama? Book from Mike on his tour travels? Splicing their DNA together to make the ultimate, end-all Prog drummer? Clothing line? The mind boggles........

Oh, you'll hear. Trust me. I don't know when, or where, but you'll hear.

I pre-ordered "Roadshow" from Amazon but then saw that Rounder had it in stock on their website. I ordered it thursday and got it saturday! I'm already 200 pages in. Similar feel to his previous books. Kind of cool to get Neil's perspective on shows I was at on the R30 tour.

As for a Rush/DT tour, I jsut don't think that'll happen. Rush has been touring on their own for the last three tours and have stated that they find touring easier now that its "just them". I would imagine that their meeting had something to do with Sabian. I am curious though. I also wonder if Neil got to see Cygnus and the Sea Monsters and a "modern" version of his old kit.

Hmmm very interesting.  I read on a good Rush Blog (www.rushisaband.com) that Neil was *possibly* seen at Dalai Lama appearance in Cali this past week.  I wonder if Mike was in Cali?  Then again, Neil just did Eddie Trunk's show (is that based in NY?) and also a Sirius show (NY?)  Can't wait for the story!

I just heard the Peart interview from Sirius radio (hear it on www.rushisaband.com ) and now know that Neil was in New York last week or so for this interview.  I wonder if Mike and Neil were both at the Roger Waters show?!?

Now thats a possibility cause Peart is also a Waters fan. But damn I'm really looking forward to what it was all about!!!

This photo looks close to one the above link.  I always wondered if the drum set was ever positioned in the same place as Peart's set was for those shows of 1976.
