RIAA Wins Another One

I really hate those guys. This time they' ve won a case in US District Court against Verizon, saying that Verizon had to divulge the identity of a Kazaa user for peer-to-peer file swapping. They used the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) as a proof. Essentially, with this interpretation of the Act, copyright holders (record companies, etc) can send lists of aliases to Internet Service Providers WITHOUT COURT APPROVAL and demand that the ISP turn over their personal information. I wonder if they realize how damaging this kind of hard-ball tactic is to their reputation among consumers. I' m all for giving money to artists that deserve it, but I' m whole-heartedly against giving money to companies that fill the air-waves with crap, try (successfully) to dictate trends among consumers, and rip off geniune artists. http://news.com.com/2100-1023-981449.html Adam
