Obviously, none of YOU or any DT fans or drummers would ever fall for his BS - but a normal guy on the street or in a bar may have heard my name or DT's name but wouldn't neccessarily know the difference...

Im actually quite disturbed by the suggestions of inflicting violent harm on the man. Im sorry mike has to go through this, the guy obviously has a lot of drug and mental problems. I actually think a mental institution would be a better place for him. Jail isnt going to do jack shit. I just wonder, did he recieve any kind of counseling when he was in jail?

I'm bit a concerned as well by all the violent threats. What is this, the schoolyard of angst? He's just a common thief, hardly a child rapist/wife-beater. It's unfortunate though that he's also taken on your identity, Mike.
 
Though that occurred to me this morning: What if this person is having a psychotic delusion, and as a result, had an incredibly sense of rhythm? But only for as long as they were deluded? Any psychiatrists on the forum with any answers?

I doubt that he got counselling. As to a mental institution, I'd say no. This guy is a scheming bastard who knows what he is doing - he is not living thinking that he's actually MP. I was the one who passed the original info onto MP (after receiving the e-mail) and in talking to the guy who had contact with Mendez, I was told that a few people would call him "Tony." When everyone else who believed he was MP questioned him as to why people were calling him Tony, his explanation was that his name was "Anthony Michael Portnoy". Additionally, right around the time this guy and his friends began realized that Mendez wasn't actually MP, he disappeared and hasn't been heard from since. That doesn't sound like someone who's mentally sick - that's a con man who's so strung out on drugs that he thinks he can get away with pulling off the same crap he did 3 years ago, using MP's name as a way to have personal contact with people and their possessions (by staying in their homes).

All the more reason to get REALLY PROACTIVE with this guy.  Make every element of his life vis a vis imitating MP as uncomfortable and unsettling as possible.

Man this sucks.The thing is though if this guy has been in jail before and only just been released, the autorities must know where he is. They must know his address and the address of his family. If, and I can only hope and assume, this has been reported the authorities MUST be on his ass NOW! If the guys only just been released from jail recently his family have to know where he is.
 
And if this guy does have a mental problem, it is completely inexcuseable that he should simply be released on to the streets without being treated or medicated. My brother has a history of mental problems, he is fine now, he takes his medication and is fine. However he has social workers visiting him all the time.

The guy should have had counseling.  i can't believe that he would do his time, then get out just to scam people all over again. don't criminals who have been released have to wear some kind of electronic tag for a month or something like that? (i dont' know, i've never been arrested).

I also think it's not good to threaten the guy about "inflicting pain" and what not. I understand the violent reactions on this forum, but it would mean even more bad news concerning Mike and the band. Let the authorities do their jobs.
