The sad thing is, at our age, we're likely to see more musicians that we were into during our younger years, start to check out a little more frequently. I can name so many bands that I was into in the '70s and '80s that have at least one band member that have already passed on.

RE: Danny Joe Brown Voice of Flirtin With Disaster dead (Ultra Man)

ORIGINAL: S.U.A.V.E.------> RIP Southern Rock Edition

None the less,

I remember watching Molly Hatchet kickin' ass "back in the day" at get this,"Astroworld" when they had free concerts with admission.
There would be 20K+ people out there and these guys would rock the place like no tomorrow. We used to live in Jacksonville right behind the Van Zandt household, so there were always members of MH, Lynyrd Skynyrd and .38 Special hanging around.

I am definitely going to put a MH disc on.

RE: Danny Joe Brown Voice of Flirtin With Disaster dead (edsmythe)

 S.U.A.V.E.------> RIP Southern Rock Edition

RE: Danny Joe Brown Voice of Flirtin With Disaster dead (teststumper)

 Did Molly Hatchett do a tour 2 or 3 years ago,or maybe last summer? I always loved the band Blackfoot and if you lived in NJ in the late 70's & early 80's NJ was a stomping ground for Blackfoot who uprooted from Florida and lived in NJ during the 70's. They lived, fished and hunted all around the western part of the state an as they played around here often. I used to go see them all the time at a club at Greenwood Lake can't remeber the name of it now! The Showplace in Dover, The Stanhope House.

Jackson Spires is and was the drummer for Blackfoot and was just a great guy to party with as were the rest of the band.
It' seems Jackson has suffered a stroke

Also the voice of Molly Hatchet, Danny Joe Brown has died, damn I'm getting old!

from Melodicrock.com
SOUTHERN ROCK TRAGEDY:
Sadly, two pieces of very sad news from the weekend just passed.
Jakson Spires (Blackfoot/Southern Rock Allstars) has tragically suffered a massive Aneurysm and is currently in intensive care in a hospital in Ft. Pierce on life support. Send some prayers Jakson's way.

Danny Joe Brown, a founding member of Southern rockers Molly Hatchet, and singer and co-writer of the band's biggest hits from the late '70s, died on Thursday at his home in Davie of complications from pneumonia. He was 53.
